FRENCH NUMBERS 0-100 MINI-BUNDLE

5 Resources
FSL FLE BEGINNER FRENCH NUMBERS 0-100 French Numbers 0-100 Task Cards & French Numbers 0-100 Word Searches @ $2.25 each in the mini-bundle Files are non-editable in a zipped format. The product is copyright, all rights reserved. It may not be copied, rewritten, shared or distributed outside your own in any way. The license for purchase is a single-user license only. Please read the Terms of Use. French Numbers 0-100 Task Cards really do help to create a lively language learning environment. Students can develop, embed, reinforce and refresh their knowledge of French numbers in a cooperative, communicative and interactive way, independently of the teacher. They have a bonus multi-skill focus on listening, speaking, pronunciation, reading and spelling. They’re great for helping students familiarize themselves with, and develop competence in, speaking, reading, writing and spelling longer words in French. The translation questions are a great way of introducing beginner French learners to the concept of translation too. The cards are useful not only when you’re focusing on***French Numbers 0-100***, but also for cover lessons, as an all-year-round starter, plenary and general ‘pick-me-up’ activity, as the goal is not simply to learn how to count in French, but also to enjoy working with French, and to feel confident about doing so. All questions are in French, and range in complexity and challenge, both in terms of language and number skills. I’ve used visual prompts such as math symbols to ensure all learners can engage with the questions, and this helps them to begin to infer meaning from context, and to decode cues and prompts to foster understanding. I don’t allow the use of calculators to increase the challenge a little. Some questions focus specifically on French math language, which students do not always engage with very often. The question card template enables students to apply their knowledge of language and arithmetic creatively and practically, which is integral to successful language learning. My students also genuinely enjoy creating questions for each other. The set comprises the following non-editable files: 48 differentiated question cards, 6 per A4 (8.5 x 11) paper. Laminate if possible - it’s definitely worth the extra prep time and expense, as they’re far more learner-friendly and last for absolutely years. 2-page answer recording sheet, best printed double-sided. I use recording sheets for more formal assessment purposes. My students all have class workbooks, and they use those to work out their answers, and to note them down, saving both prep time and paper. 2-page answer key, again best printed double-sided, and laminated if you can. One answer key for each small group is sufficient. Answer keys are essential in my view - they encourage students to develop more independence in their learning, and offer students an additional opportunity to engage with language. French Numbers 0-100 Word Searches Word searches are a fabulous way of encouraging learners to engage with the written word, practicing and reinforcing language as they complete the grids. This set features ten differentiated word searches, focusing on French Numbers 0-100, with each consecutive grid increasing in challenge. The searches offer a really useful learning opportunity - enabling learners to engage with the target vocabulary, but also aligning with cross-curricular learning - working on reading, writing, spelling, numeracy and French language skills in general. Learners are able to identify which direction words are located in within the grid by referring to the arrow key. As they move through the grids, their language skills are challenged in a range of ways - from straightforward vocabulary searching, to gap-fill, scrambled letters and more complex questions, which feature mathematical language in French. Hyphens are important in French numbers, and the grids feature these quite clearly, in order to ensure that learners can practice this aspect of language. There is an answer grid for each word search, so that learners can check their answers - or use for a little extra help if they need it. For me, answer keys are essential, as they not only provide learners with another opportunity to engage with language, but they also help them develop more independence in their learning. They’re also a great teacher time-saver - a real bonus! There is a single word search per page, portrait format. I like to ensure that text is accessible to all learners - and at this stage of their learning, it’s absolutely essential that language looks accessible and manageable. Word searches are really versatile too - I have folders of a range of vocabulary / theme word searches ready in folders - we can just pick them up and they’re good to go - for cover lessons, as starters, refreshers, plenaries or fun-time fillers at any time during the school year, as well as when there’s a particular focus on number recall and spelling. I also sometimes copy all the grids as a workbook, and let learners simply work their way through. The workbook format is great for home learning too. There are two formats to choose from - the search grids and answer keys as separate worksheets, and also a file with both grids and answer keys together, so that you can print each grid and key double-sided, according to which suits your classroom needs better. Have a browse in my store for more French independent learning activities, and a wide range of other French teaching and learning materials, with French resource boxes, special offer bundles, and lots of freebies - I’ve included a couple here for you to try. PRIMARY FRENCH IMMERSION FRENCH FOR CHILDREN PRIMARY FRENCH IMMERSION BEGINNER FRENCH ÊTRE ET AVOIR WORD SEARCHES Files are non-editable in a zipped format; the product is copyright, all rights reserved. It may not be copied, rewritten, amended, shared or distributed outside your own classroom in any way. The license for purchase is a single-user license only - please read the Terms of Use carefully. These word searches are an ideal introduction to conjugating French verbs and perfect for practicing the correct conjugation of two key French verbs: être and avoir. We do lots of comparison with English, and discuss both similarities and differences - this helps students think about patterns in verb conjugation and how languages work in general. They also help young beginners familiarise themselves with personal pronouns in French. I use word searches a lot in my languages classroom - they’re ideal for encouraging students to engage with the written word in French, and for building vocabulary. I differentiate the grids, so that there is plenty of increasing challenge, that I give students time to work through - this way I can be sure that all my students are motivated to progress. This set features 5 French-French grids, and 5 English-French grids - this gets students applying their developing knowledge of French a little differently. There’s additional consolidation: students have to complete a verb list in each grid too. I always give answer keys - for me, that’s an essential part of the learning - they give students an extra opportunity to engage with language, and they also help students develop more independence in their learning. Students also genuinely enjoy checking their own and each others’ work. The format of the word searches is a single grid per 8.5 x 11, landscape format, mirroring the direction of reading from left to right in both French and English. Try this French fruits word searches freebie - they’re in the same format as this set, so you’ll be able to see whether this kind of activity would work well for your learners: FRENCH FRUITS WORD SEARCHES FREEBIE https://www.tes.com/teaching-resource/french-fruits-word-searches-freebie-12510002 MERCI BEAUCOUP ET BON APPRENTISSAGE !

SPANISH FOR CHILDREN VEGETABLES ELEMENTARY SPANISH VEGETABLES BEGINNER SPANISH VEGETABLES I HAVE, WHO HAS? VERDURAS EN ESPAÑOL This resource consists of non-editable files in a zipped format. It is copyright, all rights reserved. It may not be copied, rewritten, shared or distributed outside your own classroom in any way. The license for purchase is a single-user license only. Please read the Terms of Use carefully. Whole-group lively & communicative language learning game, perfect for practicing, reinforcing & refreshing a range of vegetables in Spanish. The game has a multi-skill focus: listening, speaking & reading, with an important bonus focus on social interaction and participation. It’s perfect for pronunciation practice too - I point out particular phonemes, accents and sounds too - such as the tilde on the letter ñ, and how important that is in creating the correct sound of the word. The aim of the game is to create a Spanish sentence chain as quickly as possible, starting with Tengo la primera tarjeta, and ending with the final card, Tengo la última tarjeta. There are 28 vegetables featured in the game: artichoke; asparagus; aubergine; green beans; beetroot; broccoli; Brussels sprout; cabbage; carrot; cauliflower; celery; cucumber; garlic; leek; lettuce; mushroom; onion; peas; green pepper; red pepper; yellow pepper; potato; sweet potato; radish; spinach; sweetcorn; tomato; zucchini. All the vegetables may not be in my longer-term learning plan, but the learning objective moves beyond simply learning individual units of vocab - the images help students infer meaning from context, supported by the visual prompts and clues - this in turn supports them in developing their Spanish language skills in the longer and more complex sentences. There is implicit input on grammatical concepts such as adjectival agreement, gender, definite, indefinite and partitive articles and position of adjectives, either preceding or proceeding the particular noun. This is a very successful way of really getting the most of what looks like a straightforward game for consolidating the target vocabulary - it is actually so much more! The question card template provides an additional learning activity, with students applying their developing Spanish language knowledge creatively and practically, as they make game cards for the class. This is integral to successful language learning, and is a really popular activity with my students. Sopas de Letras are a fabulous way of encouraging learners to engage with the written word in Spanish, refreshing and reinforcing language as they complete the grids. This set features ten differentiated word searches, focusing on a range of vegetables in Spanish, with each consecutive grid increasing in challenge. The fruits include***masculine, feminine, singular and plural***, with a blend of definite and indefinite articles - this really helps students think a little more laterally about language, and their new vocabulary - they may learn la patata, and it’s useful to give students opportunity to think about grammatical concepts, and how la becomes una for example. I’ve selected high-frequency vegetables, such as potato or cabbage, and also vegetables which may be new to some learners, such as asparagus or artichoke. There are a range of phonemes and sounds too, such as the letter j (ajo)*, which is a sound particular to Spanish, and the letter ñ (champiñones), as the *tilde + n plays a very important role in Spanish pronunciation. There are 5 Spanish to Spanish grids, labelled with carrots, where learners are prompted with the Spanish words, and look for them in Spanish in the grid. For additional consolidation and practice, each grid also features an English word list that they have to complete, really putting their knowledge to the test. There are also 5 English to Spanish grids, labelled with a pepper, where the prompt words are given in English, and learners have to find the Spanish equivalent in the grid. For additional consolidation and practice in writing and spelling in Spanish, they also complete the Spanish word list on each page. Learners can tell in which direction the words are written by looking at the arrow key on each grid. The resource is copyright, all rights reserved. It may not be copied, rewritten, amended, shared or distributed outside your own classroom in any way. The license for purchase is a single-user license only. Please read the Terms of Use. Ideal for Primary French Immersion French and beginner French My students love to do these word searches around Christmas time - we do them several times in the run up to Christmas - they really are great for developing reading, writing and spelling in French - and engaging with French Christmas vocabulary too. There are 30 French Christmas words, which helps them to develop awareness of some Francophone Christmas traditions and figures, such as Saint Nicolas and Père Fouettard. I also use this as a prompt to stimulate discussion about French Christmas practices and customs, and we talk about what students know about other Christmas traditions around the world. The nouns feature masculine and feminine, singular and plural and both definite and indefinite articles, which is a great way of working on and consolidating those grammatical concepts too. Word searches are really easily differentiated: there are 5 French to French grids, as well as an English word list that they have to complete, really putting their knowledge to the test. There are also 5 English to French grids, where the prompt words are given in English, and learners have to find the French equivalent in the grid - they also have to complete the French word list on each page for extra spelling and vocabulary practice. I always give answer keys to my word searches - that works really well in terms of helping students work and learn independently together without me, and gives them even more opportunity to engage with French. There’s a reference list of all the French Christmas words too - this is a really useful support resource to ensure all learners can do the searches. They’ll have to look carefully at some of the words though - for a little extra challenge, sometimes I’ve changed words slightly - such as using ‘an elf’, where the reference list shows ‘the elves’. All the fruits may not be in my longer-term learning plan, but the learning objective moves beyond simply learning individual units of vocabulary - the images help students infer meaning from context, supported by the visual prompts and clues - this in turn supports them in developing their Spanish language skills in the longer and more complex sentences. This is an integral element to successful language learning, and is a really popular activity with my students. Please read the Terms of Use carefully. Task cards are an ideal language learning activity, providing multi-skill language learning opportunities. These sets are ideal for a range of French language grades. This kind of activity really does help to create a lively language learning environment. Students can develop, embed, reinforce and refresh their French language skills in a cooperative, communicative and interactive way, independently of the teacher. The differentiated questions have a bonus multi-skill focus on listening, speaking, pronunciation, reading and spelling. They’re great for helping students familiarise themselves with, and develop competence in, speaking, reading, writing and spelling in French in general, and on the focus language, for example, conjugating French RE verbs in the present tense in particular. I use task not only when we’re focusing on the focus language and grammar, but also for sub lessons, as an all-year-round starter, plenary and general ‘pick-me-up’ activity. The goal is not simply to learn how French works, and how patterns can be identified and applied, it’s also about enjoying working with French, and to feel confident about doing so. The questions are differentiated, and range in complexity and challenge, with some calling specifically upon prior and new knowledge too, helping students make links and build bridges in their learning. There may be some vocabulary that students are not familiar with - these questions give them the opportunity to learn and apply new language too. Other grammatical concepts are addressed in the questions too, such as gender agreement, direct and indirect objects, personal pronouns and question formats in French. The question card template available in some sets enables students to apply their knowledge practically and creatively, which is an essential element to successful language learning. To get the most from the questions, I frequently look at the multiple-choice questions as a whole-group, identifying not only why there is a single correct response, but what the errors are in the other choices. Identifying errors, and explaining precisely why something is inaccurate or incorrect, helps students to think about language a little more laterally, and ensures that they are thinking concepts through, rather than simply relying on learned responses. All sets have full answer keys and recording sheets. Please read the Terms of Use carefully. These French Christmas Numbers 0-31 challenge cards are perfect for French Christmas lessons, and really do help to create a lively language learning environment. I’ve found that lessons around the Christmas period are a great time for revisiting and practising language and structures we’ve looked at over the semester. The questions are entirely in***French***, and students can develop, embed, reinforce and refresh their developing knowledge of French in a cooperative, communicative and interactive way, independently of the teacher. They have a bonus multi-skill focus on listening, speaking, pronunciation, reading and spelling. They’re great for helping students familiarize themselves with, and develop competence in, speaking, reading, writing and spelling in French in general, and certainly in French numbers and French Christmas vocabulary in particular. The questions range in complexity and challenge, not only in terms of calculation, but also in terms of the level of French - they are definitely aimed at advanced beginner French learners, rather than new or recent beginners. Most learners will be able to infer meaning from context / images, which have a real French Christmas theme, such as la bûche de Noël and Père Fouettard, with vocabulary and structures repeated throughout, giving learners a chance to familiarize themselves really well with them. Nonetheless, it can be useful to read through the questions with the whole class first to check everyone is able to access the language, and therefore the activity, successfully. Students really do benefit in terms of language learning if they have several opportunities to work with the cards, rather than simply working with them in a single lesson. I like to share essential beginner French vocabulary that I can use in everyday talk with my young learners from the beginning of their French learning program. The key focus is on the definite article, both masculine and feminine, singular and plural, though I do use the set to start to compare these with the indefinite article, which I’ve found to be a really successful way of helping students embed grammatical concepts such as gender, implicitly, without the need for repeated explicit instruction. We use the set not only when we’re introducing and practicing French vegetables, but also for developing French language skills and awareness in general. Students are able to familiarise themselves with how French words ‘look’, and how sounds are represented in the written form. I don’t actually introduce 25 vegetables at once, but in my classroom decor, I generally have additional language to maximise students’ exposure to related vocabulary. The vegetables are: artichoke; asparagus; beetroot; broccoli; cabbage; carrots; cauliflower; celery; corn; cucumber; eggplants / aubergines; French / green beans; garlic; leeks; lettuce; mushrooms; onions; peas ; red peppers; yellow pepper; potatoes; sprouts; spinach; sweet potatoes; tomato The flashcards / posters are 8.5 x 11 (A4) portrait size. There are two design formats to choose from - French flag, or plain without frame, to keep prep costs to a minimum, so 50 flashcards / posters in total. I always print on card stock and / or laminate my flashcards / posters, as they display much more effectively, and remain in excellent condition for years.
