This worksheet uses the topical theme of Pancake day to practice using il faut + the infinitive, it has activities including a gap-fill, recognition of words and sentence structure, translation, grammar guidance and find the French. There are extra tasks to keep those students who work through it at a faster pace, or you may wish to use the extra tasks for differentiation. I have used this with year 8 students for cover work and also for when I am assessing spoken French as students can work independently through the tasks with minimum guidance. I have included the answer sheet for self/peer checking.

St Valentine activity sheet is a fun worksheet to do with students who have some level of French, I made it for my year 8 students and they enjoyed it. Includes word recognition exercises, translation, grammar and extra tasks. Answer sheet included for self/peer/cover supervisor correction.

Gifts - Des cadeaux is a writing frame designed to guide and support students' written work to include a variety of linguistic features necessary for GCSE. The questions and the support phrases are in both French and English, you could leave this as cover work or give as homework or revision in preparation for the written or the spoken exam. I have used this with a top year 9 group as a challenge and they wrote some interesting pieces or with a year 10 or 11 group especially those who need more encouragement.

This resource has a French menu with prices, comprehension questions on it and the answers. I have also included notes on the menu in case you are not sure of the foods described. This is good for end of year 7 or year 8 students after they have done some work on food as it enlarges their vocabulary. I have used it as a basis for role-play and students have created their own versions adding dishes that they have researched. Can be used for cover with additional tasks such as design your restaurant logo and menu, create a quiz based on your menu to share with others, if students do this make sure they write the answers up for ease of correction.

Developing reading skills. Preparation for an in class activity. Each student completes the form they are then either swapped with another class or collected in by the teacher for display the next lesson.
