The aim of this presentation is to visualise the content of the course by adding photos, diagrams, pictures and maps, as well as vide link so the content is accessible to all ability pupils. This unit overviews the Treaty of Fort Laramie in 1851, choosing the respresentatives for the meeting, the boundaries of Indian lands, translation difficulties, treaty agreements (for Indians and the Us government), significance and the problems of the treaty.

The content of the course has been converted into a series of slides enriched by adding many pictures, maps diagrams and photos, so the topic becomes more accessible to all ability pupils. There are couple of links to YouTube videos. This unit is covering the process and problems of the migration to the West (Oregon and California) in mid 19th century: the Oregon Trail, preparation of the wagons, the problems of migrants travelling through the trail, and the Donner Party experiences on the way to the West.

This unit is about the push and pull factors that encouraged migration to the West (Oregon and California) in mid 19th century: economic conditions of the East in 1830/40 (Panic of 1837), the growing popularity of farmland in Oregon, establishment of the Oregon Trail, the Gold Rush in California (from 1849), and the idea of Manifest Destiny.
