Arthur Miller’s tragic tale of a working man’s professional and emotional decline, explores the concept of a failed American Dream, and continues to entertain audiences worldwide in both film and theatre. In our post-modern political and social fields of conflict and change, it remains a significant text. I have taught this play many times over the last 20 years. I have used this specific resource (revised in 2021) to lead my teaching in class, as a distance learning material (Google Meet/SKYPE lessons), as a homework assignment and even as a tool of revision – all have worked well for the students. This dynamically illustrated PowerPoint lesson (23 slides) provides a step-by-step guide to essay writing, focusing on the question: ‘Death of a Salesman’ is one of the foundational texts exploring the American dream. How is Miller overwhelmingly cynical on the topic? This is a complete resource, with no further work required from the teacher. Enjoy!

These complex and challenging texts remain as controversial in the post-modern world as they did at the time of publication. I have taught these texts a number of times and have refined this resource at the close of every academic year. I have successfully used this resource to lead my teaching in the classroom, as a homework or distance learning material and even as a tool of revision – all have worked well for the students. This colossal thirty-two slide presentation provides the appropriate detail and exploration required at A level, and is suitable with slight adaptions for IB and the American system, it provides roughly three hours teaching time of resources. This presentation guides the students through the process of writing an academic essay, working around the essay question of ‘In what ways do Shakespeare and Fitzgerald present the idea of sexual inequality in their respective texts? I feel that this is a critical skill that really helps to build confidence in the students, my feedback in class has been extremely favourable towards this particular resource. Every slide is dynamically illustrated and very engaging. This presentation also contains an extension task and homework assignment. There is no work for you to complete whatsoever. This is a complete resource. Enjoy.
