After some resilience training I designed and made a six lesson plan with resources to improve the children’s understanding and personal resilience. It has been brilliant and successful within the school used from Year 2 up but could be adapted for lower. I have used social stories and other strategies to make it inclusive and accessible to children with SEN and EAL.

Have you noticed that your children can tell you when they’re transitioning from green to yellow zones on the playground or in the classroom, but most of the time they can’t pick the right solution to help them get back to green? Well, I found myself being told to say ‘Stop, think and choose’ but what if they don’t know what the options are? So I feel giving and showing these options to children on a simple wheel can help them make the right choice. These editable wheels work really well in my classroom and I’m not saying they are going to work in yours perfectly but they might help. Most behaviour management strategies are trial and error. These wheels may help your children understand how they can solve their problems in class and on the playground.

An English plan that covers the Write Stuff Scheme. There are four learning chunks and an independent planning sheet. The children write four learning chunks that retell the story and then they rewrite it with their own characters and places. There are adaptable SEN/ EAL sheet to help adapt for your LA.

I created this to help my lower ability in KS2 to include adjectives and adverbs. I’ve made it so it is editable in PPt and so you could print some off and laminate them so they could make their own. Therefore, you could use the sentence builder how you as the practitioner see fit. The blocks are colour co-ordinated for determiners, adjectives, nouns, verbs and prepositional phrases/ adverbs.

This is a two day reading plan ideally for lessons of an hour or more. However, the lessons can be adapted to go on for 4 days at 30 or 40 minutes. The resources are included.
