Break-even
This lesson covers the three methods of break even (formula,table,graph), as well as the limitations of break even analysis and the impact of changing variables of the breakeven point. Powerpoint includes: easy to follow teacher input slides, student activities with answers, and a Kahoot quiz.
Revision/Starter activity/Useful for all subjects
This presentation provides an editable template and instructions for an activity I developed to support and push students in applying theory to various industries and products. One of the key challenges I have found with my classes is the development of application skills. I have seen a positive impact in the development of application skills in their essay writing as a result of regular use of this activity. This activity engages students and is a useful piece of formative assessment to inform future planning.
Higher Order Thinking
This PowerPoint aims to promote higher order thinking. I used this with my class to set the scene for an exam technique lesson so that we could discuss the different types of thinking and different skills they will be required to exhibit in their essay writing. This was useful in helping students understand what is expected of them in the classroom and outside of the classroom in order for them to be successful. Lots of great opportunities for debate and discussion.

Statement of Comprehensive Income (profit and loss)
This is an introductory lesson which guides students through the purpose and content of a profit and loss and gives them an opportunity to practice calculating profit margins.
Taxes
This input powerpoint explores the different types of direct and indirect taxation. It allows students to consider how tax affects them individually and how it impacts on small business. Examples of well known tax avoidance and evasion are explored and legal means of managing tax identified. Generates lots of class discussion.
Finance Revision Sheets
This finance revision sheet was originally designed for BTEC level 2 business. However it covers the very basics of key finance topics so would also be useful for other GCSE spec or as an A level revision starter.

This resource was developed to help students understand the difficulties of becoming and operating as a PLC and what companies must do to be able to float on the stock exchange. Students are set flipped learning on ownership structures in advance to obtain a basic understanding.

This input powerpoint takes students through a case study to teach them how to calculate cost, revenue, profit and percentage changes. Stretch and challenge questions are integrated to get students thinking about the reality of the figures. Kahoot quiz included.
How to structure 8 mark questions: Tips and tricks
This resource was developed to highlight to students what they do well in 8 mark essay questions and what they need to improve. My class found this very useful and have made a marked improvement.
