Interactive game of Snap - Matching Level 1

(0)
A set of matching activities in the form of an interactive game of Snap. Pupils are required to match: pictures, shapes and colours. This resource can also be accessed by switch users via a switch interface which emulates the enter key. Suitable for older pupils with SEN

3-D shape investigation.Shape properties. KS3.

(7)
This unit is made up of three mini interactive activities focusing on the properties of 3D shapes. The first activity is based on Euler’s theory. The pupils need to find a rule that links the faces, edges and vertices together. The interactive activity allows them to manipulate the shapes on screen to count the faces, edges and vertices. The second activity has them using their knowledge of the properties of 3D shapes to form a polyhedral chain. The third activity allows the pupils to investigate which edges will meet when a net folds to form a 3D shape.

The study of angles - KS3. Powerpoint. Geometry.

(2)
Interactive whiteboard materials (PowerPoint and Word form) dealing with all aspects of the study of angles: angles in triangles, parallel lines, construction, external angles of polygons, area & arc, length of sector, circle geometry. Ideal for KS3

Tetrahedra investigation. 3D Nets. Problem solving

(2)
A short investigation to find the number of ways the net of a tetrahedron can be coloured using four different colours only once. The unit is split into three sections: 1. How many ways can the net of a tetrahedron be coloured using four different colours only once? 2. How many ways can the net of a tetrahedron be coloured if rotations aren’t allowed? 3. How many ways can a 3D tetrahedron be coloured using four different colours only once?

Pentominoes. Rotational symmetry. KS3. Shapes.

(2)
This unit is made up of a number of mini activities. After finding the 12 pentominoes pupils use the shapes in the following activities: Find the symmetry and rotational symmetry of the shapes. Investigate which pentominoes will tessellate without being rotated, then which will tessellate when rotated. Fit the shapes into varying sizes of rectangles. The unit contains pentomino shapes to download and print out.

Functional Relationships. Powerpoints.KS3.Algebra.

(1)
A series of PPT activities that help students understand and use functional relationships. The resource is split into 10 sections. Each section consists of a PPT presentation with accompanying activities or worksheets. 1. Recognise linear sequences 2. Rules and robots – complete the number machine 3. Create number patterns in shapes 4. Patterns and rules – One or two stage formulae 5. Patterns and rules –Two stage formulae 6. Problem solving – Group work using formulae 7. Simplifying expressions 8. Simplifying indices 9. Substitution 10. Symbols in algebra

Basic Mental Maths Wizard. Number operartion KS3.

(1)
This application allows pupils to practice basic number operations through a series of easy to use mental maths operations. There are exercises on three levels; beginner, intermediate and expert, covering the four basic number operations together with exercises on multiplication and division by powers of 10. Each test asks ten questions on the selected topic and the pupil is provided with instant feedback as each answer is submitted. The pupil’s mark is recorded in the database to allow progress to be monitored. A traffic light form allows easy monitoring of pupil’s progress.

Maths MarkbookAn interactive markbook with sheets

(2)
The mark sheet allows for 3 assessments to be averaged using a weighted mean then levelled via % to a NC level. The markbook also contains a timer and a hyperlinked FrontPage to resources. PLEASE NOTE: You will need to have the ‘Analysis toolpak’ and ‘VBA analysis toolpak’ installed in order to run these sheets correctly. These might have been installed initially when Excel was installed for the first time but, if not, you will need your original MS Office disk. To install them, select ‘Tools’ , then ‘add ins’. Put a tick in the two boxes next to each toolpack.

Data Handling Skills: KS2/KS3 Project

(3)
This transition project allows pupils to handle data in a real life context. The work is split from Years 5 to 8, with opportunity for groups to revisit the previous year’s results. Year 5 collects discrete data, finds the mode and range and displays the results on an interactive bar graph. Year 6 collects discrete data, finds the mode, median, mean and range and displays their results on an interactive pictogram. Year 7 collects discrete data and displays their data on an interactive scatter diagram. Year 8 collects and analyses continuous data using an interactive reaction timer.

Sort, search, graph and create a database.Lesson.

(1)
A resource which presents how to sort, search, graph and create a database. This resource is divided into 5 parts: •Sorting •Searching one field •Searching two field •Graphing •Creating a database All the units follow the same pattern, searching: •Teacher notes •Starter activity - an animation which shows what searching means.
