On March the first 2005 Gwenno Dafydd was taking part in the National St David’s Day Parade in Cardiff and ringing a heavy bell similar to the bells used by Saint David. She had a flash of inspiration and decided that a fitting song was needed to celebrate the occasion. At the first opportunity Gwenno wrote the words and her musical partner Heulwen Thomas composed the tune.

Venturing beyond the school gate, stepping out into the outside world, learning professionals guide the children around their square mile, listening, watching and experiencing the world around them. What’s that? What is it for? Who lives there? ……… many questions that can lead to discovery and knowledge about the children’s own locality and their experience of it.
This bilingual site provides information and resources for officers, teachers, pupils and parents, providing educational crime prevention information for all members of the community. The website focuses on three main themes that of drug and substance misuse, social behaviour and community and personal safety. It provides follow up work in support of each of the lessons of the All Wales School Liaison Core Programme. It provides ideas and the necessary resources for delivery. A range of themed resources based on Gilbert the starfish and his adventures in a seaside town. The resources include opportunity for group work, collaboration and discussion along with activities that can be used on an individual basis.
The Farm takes pupils on a virtual journey of a livestock farm. They see pigs, ducks, hens, horses, cows and sheep. There is a small information screen about each animal and where it lives, and then some activities involving counting animals and matching animals. Pupils can also sing along to the Old MacDonald had a farm nursery rhyme.
Learning objectives:
to recognise and name different sorts of farm animals,
to count to nine,
and to listen to and recall a nursery rhyme.
Look at where people live.
The aim of this resource is for the pupils to interactively:
identify objects and rooms within a house,
talk about the town in which they live,
identify animals and items familiar to the countryside,
introduce new vocabulary concerning,
identify the initial sounds of objects,
begin to compare or contrast different localities,
begin to gain an awareness and appreciation of the environment.
The activities will meet the requirements for the ACCAC Desirable Outcomes in Knowledge and Understanding of the World 1, 2, and 9 and Language and Literacy 2 and 7.
This introduces pupils to times of the day during a school day, including meal times. Pupils follow a short story about a boy called Gwyn as he goes through his daily routine. They have the opportunity to sequence three events of his day and his meal times pictorially and then follow this up in the form of cut-and-stick worksheets.
Vocabulary introduced includes: breakfast time, lunch time, tea time, morning, afternoon, evening, night.
Desirable outcomes:
to begin to understand the idea of time
and to sequence correctly.
A term’s lesson plans that includes photograph resources worksheets and interactive white-board activities for Early Years and for Key Stage 1. Activities that support children in comparing and contrasting places and features beyond their local area ,namely Wales and Lesotho. Both units of work address several elements of the Global Dimension themes and Foundation Phase Learning Aims.
