This unit focuses on the opening of a suspense story. The children read the opening then identify the different forms of figurative speech that have been used to add effect. Personification, metaphors and similes are explained and examples shown. Children then go on to write the opening of their own suspense story using a picture of haunted house as stimulus.

This unit revises the English GCSE play Macbeth by William Shakespeare. It includes interactive activities revising characterisation, themes and key events, in preparation for the exam and coursework questions. This unit begins by revising the symbols used for components in an electrical circuit diagram. Section 1 asks pupils to look at a circuit diagram and decide whether the cicuit would work before building and testing it.
