The resource is designed to build on KS1 work by developing understanding of the key concepts related to sources of sound and how sound travels to the ear. The first section looks at different sources of sound and a short video is available as stiumulus for the start of a lesson. The second session looks at how the vibrations travel out and away from the source of the sound. The third section check the pupils understanding through simple interactive activities.

In this Unit, pupils learn to give their opinions and talk about their spare time likes and dislikes. It includes interactive reading and listening activities, worksheets, grammar notes and exercises on stem changing verbs and impersonal verbs like gustar. The unit also includes activities which require pupils to use thinking skills and prepare an extended written piece. Each section is accompanied by teachers’ notes with suggestions on how to use each resource.

This resource is an extract from a larger National Museum Wales project that allows pupils to become a virtual marine scientist and explore the Bristol Channel The main activity here explores food chains and relationships in the channel, incorporating an interactive activity with a supporting lesson plan, worksheets, photos and videos. The full CD based resource contains four more interactive activities with lesson plans and additional resources, all available in English and Welsh.

These activities are developed primarily as reading resources although there are opportunities to develop written work using these text types as model exemplar. The activities are based on Literacy Strategy text types and they contain key questions which encourage pupils to explore language and write more open responses to reading. These resources could be used to meet Key Skills criteria for Communication (Reading)
