Several examples are given where the force (push, pull or twist) needs to be identified, eg to push a door open. The pupils are then asked to sort a collection of toys into those which are used by pulling or pushing. As a result of this activity the pupils should be able to describe the movement of familiar things, and to know that pushes and pulls are examples of forces. The activity allows for the development of vocabulary, giving the opportunity to introduce the term 'force'.
