French Speaking and Listening Conversation Prompts, Cards and Mats

(0)
Are you looking for some ways to encourage speaking and listening in French? These easy-prep conversation prompts and mats will do just that and are ideal as a starter activity to get students thinking and speaking straight away in French. They are great for working in pairs and differentiated so you will be able to use them for the whole class. Speaking and listening are skills that are so important and fun, however many students shy away from this because they don’t want to get this wrong. I would start a lesson with my puppet and model a conversation in French, adding a few words. Then my puppet would ask a few students a question so that they get involved. I would differentiate the questions to the student so some might answer simple questions with their name or ‘Oui’ and I would expect others to answer in more complex sentences. Then all students will use their conversation mats and ask and answer questions with their talking partner. This is a fun and quick way to start the lesson in the target language and engage students in French conversations. These activities help with confidence and fluency. When students are more confident and fluent, they can use the more challenging prompts and mats. Benefits Perfect for use as a lesson starter Ideal to use as an oral task Encourages speaking and listening skills Differentiated to target different skill levels Helps students practice their conversation skills A resource that you will use often You will get: 3 mats in different designs 50+ cards in Fench (including some English prompts that encourage using French vocabulary without the support of hearing the language first) Blank mats to add their new vocabulary/ questions over the term and/ or year Blank prompt cards for you or students to write questions Includes Dyslexic font Instructions/Tips for Implementation Students can work in pairs using the conversation cards and mats at the beginning of the lesson to encourage speaking and listening skills. They can also use the blank templates to add new vocabulary as they learn throughout the year therefore making their learning personal to them. They can also use the 50+ prompt cards for a quick speaking and listening activity. Provide the cards with the topics that you have covered recently and mix in topics from a while ago to refresh this vocabulary If you like this resource, I would appreciate it if you could leave a review and Thank you. Phonics Spelling Dice Games Digraphs CK FF LL SS ZZ & QU & Short

(0)
Are you looking for fun segmenting and spelling games for digraphs ck, ff, ll, ss, zz and qu? Get your reception children excited to read, segment and spell words with the letters on the dice. They will love these activities which will help them recognise the first digraphs they will probably learn and choose the correct letters to ‘build’ the word. Why choose dice rather than get students to write? Some children at this age are reluctant to write but we still need them to practice spelling so playing engaging games solves this issue. Building words using these dice makes spelling fun. Use these games to revise and consolidate learning about spelling digraphs in fun ways. This can be a big step up from reading CVC words as students have to recognize that 2 letters together can make 1 sound. They will become more confident and fluent in their spelling and reading as they recognize these digraphs quickly. Segmenting and Blending CVC Words Fun DICE Spelling Games

(0)
Looking for fun blending and segmenting games to spell CVC words? Get your (EYFS) reception children excited to practise early reading skills and say, segment, blend and make words with the letters on the dice to match the pictures. They will love these activities which will help them to recognise consonants and vowels and choose the correct ones to build the different words. Why choose dice rather than get pupils to write? Some children at this age may find writing tricky as they have not yet got the fine motor control to use a pencil accurately and can get frustrated easily, however we still want them to practice spelling. Building words using these dice makes ‘writing’, or spelling, fun. You can also use these as a Memory or Pairs game by printing the words and pictures and finding the pairs. Alternatively print out the words twice and match them. Use these games to revise and consolidate learning about blending and segmenting CVC words in fun ways. Pupils will become more confident and fluent in their spelling and reading. You will get: 3 games which have: dice - 2 dice with consonants plus 2 vowel dice words in colour with the middle vowel in black words in colour with the middle vowel in black plus 3 dots under the 3 letters and arrows to show the direction of reading the word words in in black and white to print directly to the back of the pictures for instant self-assessment. Please note that some words are used more than once). instructions how to play the games - i.e. match the letters to the word or match the letters to the picture teaching notes patterns for the backs of words in case you would like to have a player read the word and the others spell this Great for you: Ideal opportunity to assess and teach about blending and segmenting CVC words Great as independent activities as part of a lesson Great for your literacy/ reading centres Use them for morning work Ideal for fun homework Use them for early finishers Ideal for extra fun segmenting and spelling practice Great for your Pupils: Popular to play & easy to understand activities Great opportunities to learn together and discuss blending and segmenting with instant self-assessment You might also be interested in these: If you like this resource, I would appreciate a review and thank you.
