This is a revision pack full of exam questions taken from text books, specimen papers and my own initiative. This is an essential resource for any student studying the new AQA GCSE History topic 'Britain: Health and the People'. The questions are divided up based on the 4 chronological sections of the course; there are questions of all types, including thematic questions. (***THESE SHOULD NOT BE TAKEN AS DEFINITE EXAMPLES OF EXAM QUESTIONS***)

A set of teacher notes that I created over the summer in preparation for first teaching of the Edexcel unit: Unification of Italy, 1830-1870. The notes follow the order of the Hodder text book by Podesta; however, both the Pearson and Access to History books have been used to supplement this information. The date range begins in c.1815 to give some context in the run up to the 1830 Edexcel start date. This resource is intended to be used as a start point for teachers who are new to this topic; they will find even more information in the text books listed above. The resource has been created using Word 2013 in its Notebook layout, so the formatting may be slightly different if opened in a print layout format.

A handout created in support of the Edexcel AS Level unit: The Unification of Italy, 1830-1870. Included is a revision diagram showing the 8 stages of Italian unification, from 1792 to 1870. Students can use their class notes or a text book to complete a summary of each event that led to a 'changing Italy'. An activity created in support of the Edexcel AS Level unit: The Unification of Italy, 1830-1870. This activity includes 3 sets of 8 cards, each in relation to one of the 8 stages of Italy's transformation into a unified state (between 1792 and 1870). Each page contains either: 8 maps, 8 events or 8 dates. Students are required to match up the dates, events and maps before putting the matched-up sets in chronological order. This would be a useful started during a revision lesson towards the end of the course, or the maps/dates cards could be used at the very beginning of the course to get students speculating what may happen.

Handouts and a PowerPoint created in support of the Edexcel AS Level unit: The Unification of Italy, 1830-1870. Included are two blank revision diagrams to allow students to write notes in an ordered way on the 1848 revolutions and why they failed. Ideally this would be blown up to A3 and a map of Italy has been included for reference. Also included is a detailed, completed copy of the 'events' handout using a number of text books. Lower ability students could be given this to support note taking or this could be shown on a projector and talked through in class. I have also included a PowerPoint presentation that can be used as a walkthrough during a lesson on this topic. Please note that as this is an independent learning lesson, the PowerPoint presentation is used for guidance, it does not include all of the answers!

A selection of exam questions based on the four chapters/sections of the Hodder Restoration England GCSE from AQA. Some of these have come from the specimen papers on the AQA website, whereas others have been created by me (DISCLAIMER: THESE QUESTIONS SHOULD NOT BE TAKEN AS A PRECISE REFLECTION OF WHAT COULD COME UP IN THE EXAM!) I have also given examples based on the Royal Observatory Environment Study.

Resources relating to the new GCSE specification. These resources relate to the Church's involvement in medicine. Students need to fill in the gaps (answer sheet provided) using the blue Hodder text book.

A selection of resources related to the AQA History specification; specifically the Britain: Health and the People unit of work. The worksheets include tasks on key renaissance individuals (Pare, Vesalius, Harvey etc.) as well as Jenner and general renaissance discoveries. Students will need their blue Hodder text books to complete these tasks and may also require internet access for research.

Two tasks focusing on Enlightenment medicine; this task is intended to complement the unit on Pasteur, Koch, Ehrlich and other Enlightenment thinkers. Students have to match up the information to the correct individual (using the blue Hodder text book) and then complete a gap fill on the Scientific Revolution using the pages stated.

Two worksheets as part of a lesson on Elizabeth Garrett Anderson and Sophia Jex Blake. This forms the part of the 'Revolution in Medicine' section of the AQA Health and the People unit of work. Students need to use the Hodder Textbook (pages indicated on the worksheets) to match the dates with the events; they then need to find similarities/differences between the stories of both women.

Revision/Summary table for the OCR Unit 3 topic: Russia and its Rulers, 1855-1964. The idea of this worksheet is to help students plan and write thematic essays. Students need to complete the table by bullet pointing the main social, economic and political events from each period. They then need to colour code the bullet points based on 6 'mini themes' (that are often the focus of exam questions). Using this colour coded system, students should be able to easily spot the trends going through the course and can pull this out when planning an essay question.

Various resources to aid A Level (or GCSE) teaching of the East Anglian Witchcraze. This was designed for the OCR Unit 3 topic: Popular Culture and the Witchcraze of the 16th and 17th Centuries. Students may need to use either the Hodder or Pearson text books to complete one of the worksheets on the causes of the hunts; however, everything else can be used independently. Included are: information sheets on the hunts a sorting activity focusing on the causes of the hunts revision sheets extracts from Hopkins' book where he responds to John Gaule's criticisms a biography worksheet for students to complete using their own research

Based around two units from a Year 7 SOW focusing on Norman England (this can be found in my shop). Students are given a range of 1 or 2 mark knowledge questions on dates/names/events/definitions associated with The Battle of Hastings and Norman England. This form of assessment would be in addition to knowledge and source essays to practise the skills required for studying History. Also included is a sheet with answers to all of the questions. The test is 35 questions long (35 marks).

Several resources to create a 'World Governments' display as part of KS3/KS4 History or Politics. Students were introduced to the various forms of government that exist/have existed and then given the task of researching a particular country. They included the flag of the country, basic information and a summary of their type of government. This formed the basis of our Year 9 work on Electoral Reform in Britain. Also included are titles, display questions and other information sheets to add to the display. The only thing required is a map of the world (and, if desired, a summary of the different government types). As our display was quite small I took a map of the world from the internet and enlarged this to A3. I also intend to mark the countries that have been researched on the map, and have the students find which one is which; you could also use string to label each one.

Students are given a range of 1 mark knowledge questions on dates/names/events/definitions associated with the Tudors, English Reformation and the Spanish Armada. This form of assessment would be in addition to knowledge and source essays to practise the skills required for GCSE. Also included is a sheet with answers to all of the questions. The test is 35 questions long (35 marks).

Students are given a range of 1 mark knowledge questions on dates/names/events/definitions associated with The Enlightenment and the Industrial Revolution. This form of assessment would be in addition to knowledge and source essays to practise the skills required for GCSE. Also included is a sheet with answers to all of the questions. The test is 35 questions long (35 marks).

This is a gap fill and wordsearch for pupils studying the Industrial Revolution. This is a great homework or extension activity, or just for a bit of fun! Students will need to work out what the missing words are in the paragraph and then find these in the grid - can they spot which word is missing from the word search? (**ANSWER: Water Supply***) I have included answers on a separate sheet.

Resources relating to the Great Reform Act of 1832. These can be used as part of a wider unit of work on electoral reform (perhaps leading in to women's suffrage?) Included is a summary of the Great Reform Act; a task where pupils have to differentiate between the voting systems of 1830 and 1835; and a PowerPoint presentation for the lesson. Also referenced are two political cartoons that show a for/against view of reform. These should be printed out and distributed for pupils to analyse during the lesson. This is a great introduction to political cartoons, which are used extensively at GCSE.
