Resources relating to a Year 8 Geography lesson on coastal defences. Included is a PowerPoint presentation where students are introduced to the different types of sea defences that are available (encourage comments on cost, appearance, suitability etc.) Students can then use the worksheets to decide how they would defend the coast line of Hornsea (I laminated the map so they could draw on their ideas with whiteboard pens). You could stretch G&T students by applying costs to the different types of defences and giving them a budget, or you could throw a curve ball such as: 'residents have said they do not want sea walls'. These are great resources for introducing coastal defences and students can then begin to compare the benefits/limitations of each.

A detailed handout covering the AQA GCSE topic, From Tsardom to Communism: 1914-24, along with a corresponding gap fill exercise. This is a great replacement (or supplement) to the AQA text book, that can sometimes be a little daunting for student. It is perfect as a revision aid that can be carried around easily.

Various worksheets and teaching aids for the Western and Kett's Rebellions. Students are introduced to the various demands of the rebels and the thematic causes that sparked each rebellion; they will also examine how serious a threat each rebellion was to the crown. These resources would be useful for any exam board covering the Mid-Tudor Crisis debate.

A short, 10 minute key words test for students learning about rivers and the water cycle. This was used for a Year 7 lesson; however, it could easily be adapted for any KS3 scheme of work or even GCSE! The key terms for this topic are numerous and these are just a selection of some of the ones that students find tricky. Great as a starter or for homework.

This is a great field work topic with several different aspects; however, each areas comes under the umbrella of sustainability. Students will need to visit 2 different supermarkets (we visited a small M&S and a large Tesco within walking distance of the school) and find the countries of origin of several fruits and vegetables. As a class we then: labelled these on a blank map of the world (for a display), calculated the distance travelled and created graphs (Excel, cross-curricular with ICT!) based on food miles/carbon emissions. Another aspect was packaging and recycled products. Students had to fill in a survey of the products in the supermarkets; we also interview customers and members of staff for their shopping habits. This all culminated in a huge display on sustainability. This resource can be adapted for any KS3 class and can be used as a stand alone topic or as part of ecosystems/sustainability topics. It would be great for PSHE too!

A short 20 mark assessment for the CIE iGCSE ICT specification. Questions have all been previously included on CIE papers. This would be ideal for an end of unit assessment to test students' knowledge of the different types of computers/printers. Mark schemes can be found on the CIE website; however, all of the questions are relatively straight forward.

A basic worksheet with the key interfaces in a table. Students have to define an interface and then fill in the table with the advantages/disadvantages/description of each type of interface. This worksheet could then be used as a revision aid as students move closer to the exam. This worksheet was designed for the CIE iGCSE ICT specification; however, it would be appropriate for other exam boards that feature a topic on interfaces.

A cut and stick activity for GCSE pupils; however, it is simple enough for KS3 computing. Students have to sort the tiles into input and output devices (or both) and stick them on to the relevant side of the diagram (blow up to A3). I would then encourage students to think of some more devices and write those in on the relevant side. Students could also write a basic description of the devices that they are unfamiliar with, which would help them with their revision.

A help sheet and task for Year 7 pupils (or KS2) on how to create a poster/information sheet. Students are given the task of searching a children's E-Safety website and selecting the most relevant information to include on their posters. The advice sheet explains the key icons that can be found on the Home ribbon, which students may use to help their posters stand out. More able students will be able to add images to their documents.

An information sheet designed for GCSE/iGCSE units on confidentiality/data security (Unit 8 of CIE iGCSE). Students have to answer basic questions on passwords and encryption, before being presented with authentication methods used for computers. This would be an excellent resource for revision of these topics.

A fun task that instructs students to create a table based on the 2016 music chart. Students need to follow a link to the Official Charts Company's website where they then need to input data into a table they have created using Microsoft Word. Students then have to follow the instructions to edit their chart (alignment, shading, gridlines etc.) This is a useful resource for KS2/3 pupils who are being introduced to Microsoft Word.

A blank table with the skills required for the OCR CLAiT qualification (Unit 2 - Excel). Students are asked to tick whether they are comfortable with each step and should use the notes section to write useful tips to themselves or draw the relevant buttons required to complete the task.

A basic word processing task for students who are being introduced to Microsoft Word or for those taking national qualifications that require typing accuracy. Students have to write out a passage of text before formatting it using a set of instructions. Students can be extended by encouraging them to write formatting instructions for their partner or for the rest of the class.

This resource is relevant to the new AQA GCSE specification on Restoration England, 1660-1685; however, it could be adapted for KS3 or A Level. A label exercise with questions on the changing court fashions during Charles II's reign. Students are presented with two images (taken from WikiCommons, open access) and have to label the images using the correct terminology. Students will then need to explain the transition of court fashions across Charles' reign and identify the reasons for this change.
