Back 2 Basics is a carousel of activities aimed at giving children regular practise at the basic skills of reading, writing and number work. The numbers are the same as in test paper 1 but the questions are presented in a word problem format to help encourage and develop reasoning skills. The answers to the 36 questions are provided at the end of the paper. This could be given to pupils in timed conditions or alternatively children could work in pairs or small groups to help aid revision. The questions are in a similar format to the KS2 test in May with questions starting off easy and progressively getting harder.
