Students reflect on the rational for undertaking such a trip and consider the appeal of extreme destinations. The lesson includes a link to an Antarctica interactive quiz. Pupils listen to the sounds of Antarctica, helping to students to visualise visiting this isolated area. Pupils then complete a piece of creative writing using source images and supporting word bank. Pupils initially analyse source images, introducing the wide array of glacial landforms. Students are taught how glaciers accumulate over time through interactive slides, before learning about their physical processes. A sequencing card sort overviews how free-thaw weathering breaks rocks apart. Students then complete a guided independent writing task to explain glacial erosion processes. A literacy activity is also provided to develop the writing skills of weaker pupils. Bundle and save! If you like my work, please follow me for more resources and leave a review! This 3 hour lesson teaches pupils about the causes of deforestation in Malaysia and their respective impacts. Satellite imagery is used to highlight the extent of forest loss over the last 70 years. Students use information sheets to compile their notes detailing the reasons for forest loss. Pupils then use information cards to complete two mind maps highlighting the global and local impacts of deforestation. Individuals must then categorise these factors into social, economic and environmental. Workbook pintables are provided which follow the PowerPoint lesson. Multiple choice checking for understanding slides are included, as well as links and videos to allow pupils to secure their learning at home. Bundle and save! This 2 HOUR KS3 lesson investigates the factors influencing mass rural to urban migration in China. Pupils are required to create a comic strip, summarising key messages from a comprehension exercise. The task teaches pupils about the hardship rural migrants experience and addresses the ‘perceived’ benefits of urban life. The lesson includes a case study video link to aid pupil understanding, as well as an additional worksheet task, in which pupils categorise the impacts of rural to urban migration.

In this 2 hour KS3 resource pupils contrast the quality of life in Ghana with that of the UK. Pupils are first taught how to describe the location of Ghana at various scales. Source analysis is used to stimulate discussion regarding living conditions within Ghana. Pupils read an interview of a girl living in Ghana and consider how her quality of life will be affected by her living conditions. The text is annotated with prompt questions to stimulate discussion and allow pupils to complete the worksheet activity. The learning is later assessed through a extended independent writing task. Pupils learn through a game, as well as a dance, the names of and movement at the different boundaries. Students investigate the sourcing of columbite-tantalite, a vital element in creating components that store energy and are used in almost all of our small electronic devices, especially our mobile phones. Pupils describe the location of the DRC before analysing source images, showing conditions found within coltan mines. A categorising activity teaches pupils about the impact mining on local people.
