• 2 Blank clocks showing 5 mins interval - Students can use these to refer to when working on their activities.

More challenging

Letters and Sounds: Phase 3 Consonant Digraphs
This is a phonics resource on consonant digraphs. It is an ideal addition to my other resources on consonant digraphs.
It is aimed at Keystage 1 and more able Foundation children, SEND and ESL students.
The strips are differentiated and gives students the opportunity to read, write and practise digraphs using the visual images as prompts.
**Consonant digraphs: sh, ch, th, ng, ck, ph and wh. **
The pack contains:
Plain strips - Student look at the picture and practise writing the word - There are 4 different words containing the same digraph.
E.g. shoes, shell, fish, dish.
Trace over dots - again 4 different words for the same digraph
Jumbled words strips - unscramble the word by looking at the picture and writing the word.
Jumbled words strips (with highlighted digraph) - The highlighted digraph means they stay together so it only remains for the student to unscramble the rest of the letters.

Description
Cut and Paste to match Puzzle pieces
Place a selection of Aa – Zz puzzle sheets on tables for children to cut out and match upper and lower case letters and stick into workbook or on a separate sheet of paper.
They can trace inside the letters with different colour pencils (rainbow tracing).
For the capital letter part of the puzzle ask children to write words beginning with capital letters such as their name if it begins with that letter, a city, day or month, a place of interest etc and draw pictures.
For the lower case part of the puzzle, ask children to write and draw things beginning with that letter that does not always begin with a capital letter.

‘Aa is for’ to ‘Zz is for’ activity – tell children they need to colour in the picture that begins with that letter and not to colour in the other pictures.
Tracing over letters and matching to pictures
This alphabet activity is similar to the above except that the children trace over the dots.

These are worksheets and information cards relate to Advent and Christmas.

Gap filling activity (2 pages) with Answer Sheets
Students read the very short texts - 2 on each worksheet and use the words from the word box to complete the sentences.
Differentiated cut and paste activity with Answer Sheet
Students cut out the description for each candle and glue next to the correct candle.
One page of cut and paste sheet has a picture of the candles.
Also included are a set of 5 information cards which you can laminate and place on students’ table to help them complete the cut and paste activity.
Colouring Sheet
This sheet contains Advent candles which you can give to students to colour in using the information cards to colour the Advent candles correctly. The information cards borders are in colour and b/w.

Print and laminate the whole card or you can cut apart the strips and mix them up.
Children look at the picture and say what it is. They then unscramble the word in the centre and write it out correctly using phonemes previously taught.
Other suggested use:
You can cut apart the strips so that you have 56 onset and rime strips. Select the strip you want children to match up and unscramble the cvc words.
Children can match up the pictures that rhyme and then unscramble the words and say the cvc words that rhyme. They can record their work in their literacy workbooks.
Objectives:
To be able to use phonological knowledge to unscramble CVC words
To be able to sort pictures that rhyme and match onset and rime words.
