This worksheet involves children thinking of different sources of light and writing them under the respective headings; luminous or non-luminous. They can then also label each source as artificial or natural using the first letter of each. I also have the children draw a small illustration after each. There are two of the worksheets on one A4 page. *The document is fully editable. *

Label and Colour a Map of Ancient Egypt

Instructions for colouring and labeling various parts of both ancient and modern Egypt. A blank map can easily be found on Google Images to go with this. The children in my class use both traditional atlases and Google Earth to complete the exercise. Afterwards they can add in illustrations or further locations of interest.
Mummify an Apple Experiment

Mummify an Apple Experiment

(0)
A full work-through for an experiment on mummifying an apple. Includes the full scientific method from hypothesis through to conclusion. Great to get some science into a topic about Ancient Egypt. I usually begin the experiment so that a month or so later, it coincides with a look at the mummification process. We also create an Adobe Spark video to explain the way the Egyptians made their mummies. Extra discussion prompts: What foods to we preserve? How and why do we preserve them? How is this similar to the process of mummification?

Write a Diary Entry for a Historical Character Worksheet

Simple template for writing a diary. More for use in history as a stand alone diary entry but could be used in literacy as well. The idea is that students take on the role of a historical character and write a diary entry for a particular date in time. For example, a soldier in the trenches during World War 1.

They have to find objects that are heavier than, equal too and lighter than. Used to help teach about comparing mass and using scales. Comes as a fully editable DOC and also in PDF format. *Ideally requires the children to use a set of balance-beam scales, although any type of scale for measuring mass could be used. *

The Interactive Memory Game [Fully editable]

(0)
This is the electronic take on the classic memory game and it’s fully editable! Just add in pairs (or groups) of words for matching up. Best to be projected in front of the class and have two teams compete. There are 24 numbered tiles that reveal the words underneath when clicked on. I’ve also included one click scoring systems (with a max 12 points for each of the two teams) as well as a hide and reveal all button. This is great for reinforcing new vocabulary but can also be used for anything which can be split into two parts. For example, a word cut in half, a word and definition, a word and picture, a verb and its past tense form, synonyms or even a maths calculation and answer. There are so many different possibilities! It’s also good point for introducing locational memory strategies and mnemonics.

This little app called, ‘Hidden’, allows you to play a reveal the picture activity. It consists of numbered tiles which will disappear when clicked on, revealing part of the picture that lies behind. There are two templates included: The first has 12 numbered boxes with text boxes behind each. This allows you to write in your own questions. If the individual/team answers the question correctly, then part of the picture can be revealed for them to have a guess at what it is. The second template has 36 tiles but no question boxes underneath. It can be used as a reward system for answering verbal questions. I often find and use pictures with camouflaged animals in so that they are tricker to guess, even with many different parts revealed.

Knockout Scoring System - Interactive and Fun!

Knockout is simple yet brutal scoring system for group or individual competitions. If an team gets the right answer, they get to choose which team to knock a point off. A team is out once they loose all their points. However, if a team is knocked out of the game too early, I will sometimes let them join another team or allow them to continue playing and still knock points of other teams. The system is set up for four teams or individuals. Each has seven lives or points to be knocked off before they are out of the game.
