Nine planning sheets to help students write a short story. They are based on films (James Bond, Stand By Me, The Shallows, Indiana Jones etc.) and I have also included a blank one so you can use for a template.
A starter my students love. A 40-slide PowerPoint full of fun questions and discussions points for students. Some are personal and some are general knowledge. Examples below:
‘What’s your most overused word?’
‘What is the only word that begins and ends with the letters “und”?’
‘Which three words best describe you?’
‘What is the shortest two-word sentence in the English language?’
This resource comes with PowerPoint, extracts, exemplars, grade 9 answers and a fantastic podcast by an EDUQAS examiner. The resources analyses a real EDUQAS reading exam and looks how to get a grade 9 on each question. This is for all abilities and is very colourful, informative and modern. The students love it!
Students are given a list of 14 animals. All of the letters have been jumbled up. They have 5 minutes to unscramble all 14. PowerPoints & cards included.
Fun starter. On each slide, students will see a set of words being revealed.
All of them will be linked by something. As soon as they know what it is, they shout out the word!
