This PPT explains on a simple level how to use two verbs together in French.

Use this PPT to introduce personality words in German. After being introduced, the image will fly past quickly and pupils have to give the relevant German word.

Pupils use the clues (Christmas, etc) to write the correct month in French on the sheet.

This is a brief explanation of regular -er verbs in French.

Give these as printed sheets to students. They then start from the inner circle to begin to write their own paragraph, based on this guidance. The topic here is saying what you did last weekend and what you bought, then saying what you’re going to do next weekend and what you’re going to wear. Different tenses used.

Introduce pupils to the question 'Tu portes…?' Using pictures of 3 celebrities in different outfits, this PPT talks about describing what you’re wearing and giving your opinion of ‘le look’.

On the first slide, pupils must decide whether the opinion word is positive or negative. Pupils then give a sentence, giving their opinion, to play Battleships. For example, “Ich finde das Hemd altmodisch.” Use that grid reference to reveal a square by clicking on it. If there’s an exploded battleship underneath, that team gets the point. If not, move over to the other team. There are 5 to find.

Which 8 were invented/discovered by French people? Pupils choose the 8 inventions/discoveries they think are correct and click on them. Either a tick or a cross will appear. An example is ‘Battery 1800’.

Pupils fill in the gaps in the worksheet as they listen to the traditional French carol. There is a link to the song on YouTube on the sheet as well.

Pupils have cards in pairs and pick up a TV show card, an opinion card and ‘je les trouve’ card, followed by ‘Par contre’ to make sentences. Example: J’adore les dessins animés. Je les trouve très amusants. Par contre, je n’aime pas les documentaires. Je les trouves ennuyeux.

This PPT introduces the rules of how to say ‘in’ or ‘to’ different places (e.g. feminine, masculine or plural countries, etc).

This is a presentation for an alternative curriculum day. Any age group can do it, but you would need to adjust the end task to make it harder for older pupils. I used this with pupils from high-ability Year 7 up to Year 9. Pupils are introduced to the vocab needed for the display (switch off lights, put rubbish in the bin, etc).

Add your own verb and its paradigm to this slide, allowing pupils to practise conjugating the given verb in pairs, using a dice.

Students use these slides to help them write a ‘for sale’ paragraph about a sibling or friend. It practises personality words and physical descriptions.

This is a mini class test I did with my Year 10 lower ability group after learning how to form regular verbs in the perfect tense for homework.

Each student gets a card with French on it. They have to find the student who has the only other card that can go with theirs.

I use this sheet either at the end of each half-term (after assessments) or at the start of the following half-term. Pupils fill in their self-assessment of their own progress over the half-term, including what they found most challenging and their personal targets for the following half-term.

As they enter the room, give pupils a random mood card. Whenever they speak in the target language, they must do so in the mood on the card. Other pupils then have to guess that mood. Just a different way to get them speaking in the target language!

Practise colours using this PPT, based on colours brain training. Going through each slide quickly, pupils must say the colour of the word, not the actual word.
