This worksheet and answers are designed for the 6-minute animated Ted Ed documentary, The Rise and Fall of the Berlin Wall. It covers post-WWII events resulting in the division of Berlin, the creation of the first fence to prevent emigration and loss of workers from East Germany, the construction of the concrete wall in 1961-2, the fortifications immediately behind the wall and events leading to the opening of border crossings in 1989. The video is available on YouTube.

Worksheet to accompany the BBC documentary, The Vikings. Who Were They? The documentary covers life in Scandinavia from 700 CE, longships and their importance in raiding, the attacks on Lindisfarne and Paris, Erik the Red and Leif Eriksson and the settlements in Iceland, Greenland and Newfoundland, the adoption of Christianity, the life of Harold Hardrada, the Battle of Stamford Bridge and briefly, what happened to the Vikings. The documentary repeats itself after 40 minutes so I would end it at that point. This worksheet is designed for students of the NSW History K-10 Syllabus for the Australian Curriculum. This resource includes 3 separate primary sources from eyewitnesses to events in the topic Persia - from Cyrus II to the death of Darius III and activities based on the source including who wrote the source, what we know about the writer, how their presence at the historical incidents impacts their writing, whether the information is reliable and the purpose of the writing. The 3 sources are: + Herodotus describes Persian religion, c.490-420 BCE + Diodorus Siculus reports that Artaxerxes II appoints a Greek(!) to command the Persian navy, 398-7 BCE + Artaxerxes I gives Nehemiah permission to rebuild the Jerusalem temple, 445-4 BCE Each source and analysis questions are on a single page. This task is designed for NSW students of the History K-10 Syllabus for the Australian Curriculum Stage 6 Higher School Certificate course Historical Periods Option D: Persia – Cyrus II to the Death of Darius III The outcome being developed is: AH12-6 analyses and interprets different types of sources for evidence to support an historical account or argument.

John Schumann's 'I Was Only 19' gives a narrative of a 19-year old conscript in the Australian Army in 1968-69, at the time of the Vietnam War. The song describes selection, training, experiences in Vietnam and reflections on the war after his return. The terms and concepts in the song are explained and are followed by a set of activities. The set of activities includes: 1. What did you learn about the experiences of Anzac soldiers at Gallipoli and after the war? 2. How did the song make feel? Why? 3. This worksheet accompanies the ABC-TV documentary Australia on Trial - The Myall Creek Massacre (2011). It covers the events around the 1836 massacre and the two court cases in 1837/38 culminating in the verdict when in the hanging of 7 convict stockmen. The agendas of the squatters, Governor Gipps and urban middle-class society are examined. It is probably beyond the scope of the video to investigate the perspectives of the Kamilaroi people and that of the convicts. Neither had power in the 1830s to give their view of the crimes.
