TIPS: To ensure that every child has an opportunity and responsibility assign two students per job. This also encourages job-sharing or working together as a partnership. You can either designate the jobs to students, have them choose or apply for a position A good idea is to rotate the jobs either daily, weekly, or quarterly, it’s your choice. You can make the transitions easier by having a “training” session by the previous student to help the next student to do the job efficiently.
If you want your students to become responsible while building a community spirit, give them responsibilities. Classroom Jobs are a great way for students to take responsibility for their classroom.

Letter Writing:
Are you looking for alphabet writing sheets, tracing mats and playdough learning mats? Well you have found just that! These writing sheets were created with versatility in mind. You can print and laminate sheets to work in any of the three ways outlined above. Another option is to print and tie sheets together using punched holes then place in your early writing centers. All your kids will need to do is use the dots as a guide to begin writing each letter, getting as close as possible to the lines for uniformity.

Alphabet: This is a wonderful way to get students to practice their letter identification and sounds. Simply cut out the alphabet fish cards and place a paper clip over each card. Fishermen (kids) will use their fishing line to catch a fish. The fishing lines can be bought commercially or made with a short stick, 20 inches of store string and a small magnet for the fishhook. Each child gets a turn trying to catch fish. If he can call a word that begins with the consonant sound on the fish he has caught, he may keep the fish. If he is unable to think of a suitable word he returns the fish, face down to the fishpond. This activity is for both small and large groups and is self-directed.

A Teacher's Idea
These large Trigraph Posters provide an engaging and visually stimulating way to learn the fundamentals of trigraphs. Trigraphs are three letters that represent one sound (or ‘phoneme’). The following are represented:-
sch
scr
squ
spl
shr
spr
str
thr
These posters feature large, high-quality images that help to illustrate trigraphs and provide students with a great visual for their understanding. Each poster is designed to be simple and easily accessible, making it an ideal educational tool for all ages. With their large size, these posters are also perfect for class discussions and group activities.
SUGGESTED USES:
Classroom posters can be used as a teaching tool to recognize goals, set expectations or to introduce or review concepts. They can be used as standalone aids to help students master particular strategies and techniques.
The following are different ways of using classroom posters:
They can be printed standard size (8.5x11 inches) and binded into a booklet as a study resource for students as an individual or small group activity.
As anchor charts
They can be used as reference books for small group use. Simply print and slide pages in sheet protectors to compile a binder or folder document.
They can be used as individual reference charts. Simply print the black-line version (if available) onto colored paper for students to stick in their notebooks or interactive journals.
Onset and Rime:
These onset and rimes matching cards are great for your budding readers to practice word building. They can build both real words and nonsense words and make their lists as they go along. An extension of this activity is to categorize the words in two sets: real words and nonsense words. The rimes included are those recommended by reading experts as the 37 most common rimes that children should master. The onset cards include consonants, consonant blends and beginning digraphs The rimes are:
ack, ail, ain, ake, ale, ame, an, ank, ap ash, at, ate, aw, ay
eat, ell, est
ice, ick, ide, ight, ill, in, ine, ing, ink, ip, it

After editing I suggest that you save the file under another name to avoid permanently altering the original file. You can delete beginning, middle or end phonemes for students to insert. Another alternative is to delete all the letters so that they write them in. I included small picture cards to aid mastery. The pages or sections that cannot be edited are specifically marked.
