Fully resourced unit with opportunities for students to participate in a Kiva microfinance project. Covers at least 7 lessons.

2-3 lessons. Guided instruction sheet outlines specific requirements of the trip; family profile, certain number of stops and activities to suit all, presented as either A3 annotated road map or as a Ppt (or other) presentation. Nice relaxed end to a unit on tourism or urbanisation. Students enjoy the freedom of designing their own trip to a country they are likely to visit!

KS3 inquiry assessment based on the history, popularity and urban problems associated with Wolverhampton, UK. The location of the city is irrelevant. Students to use the provided resources to answer the questions. The Ppt helps guide them through each section and guides them to the correct resources

2 lessons. Guided teaching and learning exercises to help students to read and understand Gersmehl's nutrient cycle. The first lesson provides the "learning pit" experience, and the second lesson is a more thorough and guided walk through reading a Gersmehl Model component by component

Investigating the different characteristics of the layers of TRF vegetation. Can be run as independent research or done as a carousel activity. Students have a template to fill in re. each characteristic layer.

Begins by locating TRF with a global context, and then looks at TRF climate graph. Student independent research worksheet covers TRF soils - questions are very specific and guided (internet required)

Short lesson about the UK's marine ecosystems. Example of an interrupted marine food chain, video link and collating activity on marine uses and misuses. Ends with a poster activity to pull together multiple marine ecosystem misuses

Introduction to the 4 ecosystems of the UK. Students get more familiar with the term "Temperate"; definition and mapping. They then have the opportunity to collate guided research into the 4 sub-ecosystems of the UK (internet required)

Students are introduced to the many ways in which humans interact with the environment. Included a research template for students to collate different uses of specific ecosystems (access to the internet necessary)

Part of the introduction to this ecosystems unit, students can make links between soils, climate, altitude and specific ecosystems e.g. as altitude increases, climate cools and becomes more inhospitable, ecosystem will change. Specific exam style questions also includes plus a video link.

Fun end-of-activity lesson. Also great as end of term extra. The resource makes an A3 mat and students are guided to design their own 5 ingredient smoothie and then calculate food miles. Can be done simply using the food labels on the mat or using I.T. to research the origin of their own ingredients.

Really engaging lesson on Singapore's pronatalistic policy and their "Mentos Night of Passion" t.v. advert (YouTube link included). Students rated this one of the most interesting things they had learned in GCSE geography!
