KS3 RE, includes information about the Sikh langar with a video clip for pupils to reflect on and discuss. Also explains how Sikh’s should act and behave, following this there is a linking task for pupils to reflect on examples of how they help others in life. Easy to differentiate, scope for discussion and reflection work.

KS3 RE, Includes discussion as a starter, background facts and information, a learning from activity focusing on the clothes we wear. Leads into a student research task (print out slides 5-12) for students alone or in groups to find out about and answer key questions on the 5 K’s. These questions are leveled in detail and difficulty, so easy to differentiate. Finishes with a task on Re-designing the school uniform. Lots of flexibility to adapt this lesson for group work too.

This can be used as a starter or plenary. Can be done in pairs or solo, you could read over the answers and share student responses. Simple.

These can be used in all kinds of ways, you could print onto coloured card, cut up and get students to match up the main critic’s point with the explanation. You could also cut them up and give one part to students, then get students to reconstruct the sheet.

This lesson is designed to take student through the chunking experiment that links to capacity and duration in the MSM. It has full instruction to explain how to get started and a printable results table for students to gather the raw data. It provides a good opportunity to link in to research methods and develop student’s understanding of and ability to write about how research in psychology works. It is accompanied by a help sheet for students to write up the experiment once they’ve carried it out. This could be given as a homework task following the DIY lesson. Both these resources link to pages 125-126 of the new spec (OCR)textbook. Finally, the homework sheet can be easily adapted for use on writing up any of the other student DIY tasks (now for some maths!)

This works to revise the theory and has a quick recap then the main task is for students to work in pairs on reconstructing the diagram of the MSM. The blank diagram is for students and should be printed and enlarged to A3. The idea is that students are allowed to “peep” at the original which is fully annotated, then take turns to build up their copy with the correct descriptions of the components of this theory. At the end of the power point there are 2 slides that can be differentiated in lots of ways to support independent writing about the theory.

KS3 geography. Explains how India is a world superpower, compares to China. Share the facts with students, main activity is for students to use the worksheet to write about what the different people say about India’s development. Includes an extension activity where students apply knowledge about what India will be like in future.

KS3 geography. This lesson is based on an intelligent graffiti task where students watch Kevin McCloud staying in the Dharavi slum. There are examples of WAGOLL for the main task and the lesson then develop into a structured assessment with the success criteria explained. It also includes some printable resources to be provided for use as research on the assessment tasks.

KS3 geography. Begins with the odd one out task and discuss the answer. Next cover learning objectives, move onto the images and facts. Students then watch the clips and use the attached thinking hats resource to write about mumbai . The build on key words using the facts slides (these can be printed out). Finally there is a mumbai postcard activity to apply knowledge which can be carried over or completed for homework.

KS3 geography. Includes a clip, a printable mind map with categories for students to build notes, printable resources of the different landscapes. Can be used as a carousel activity or paired task. A heads and tails matching task to allow students to apply understanding of the different landscapes and who/why people live there. Also has an extension task that could be adapted as a homework.

Use this as a generic any theory worksheet template. It can be used to summarise, analyse, evaluate knowledge of a theory and has been adapted for psychological theories from the 6 thinking hats.

Simply select a thunk and paste it onto your starter slide. Suitable for psychology students. Useful as a quick starter, though i wouldn’t use thunks every lesson.

The newspaper template is good for extended writing and to allow students to apply knowledge at the end of a topic or for a homework task. It can be enlarged to A3 and applies to loads of different learning activities. The linking chart is good for a starter/review task when commencing a totally new topic. Students write what they know in the first oval, then write their new knowledge in the second oval as a review at the end of a lesson or series of lessons. The middle section should encourage students to ask, how they learned. The postcard is best printed onto coloured card and can be used in any subject, the blank side could be used for a summary with diagrams and pictures of the topic and the address side used for students to use extended writing to apply their descriptions and explanations of the topic learned. Suitable for any year group.

Key stage 3 RE - a good introduction to Islam. The lesson begins with a linking activity which enables students to write in the first oval what they know already about the religion, then fill in the second oval as a review task at the end of the lesson. The lesson uses clips and key questions for students to make notes on the basics about Islam. Later on the presentation, it moves onto the 5 pillars of Islam and enables a learning from religion activity for students to try and relate some of the principles of Islam in a non-religious way. This could be adapted to work over 2 lessons.

This can be used for KS3 RE - Islam. The power point presentation clearly shows how to deliver the lesson and the resources accompany the learning activities. It can take 2 lessons and can be easily adapted to extend discussions and a class debate. The clips are hyper-linked on the slides of the presentation for students to watch.

Print out onto coloured card, students summarise each theory and linking study as they work through the unit, should be done without notes. Store in a revision folder separate from class book and notes, then use as a revision resource later in the course. I have these for all units in the new spec. Email if you need them.

These 2 worksheets support students to plan and write about Piaget's stage theory and conservation study. One has partially written sentences, students then complete the answer to develop their exam skills on the 13 mark question. The other is about Piaget's stage theory and can be used as a writing frame for students to use with notes to develop extended writing or as an assessment after studying Piaget's stage theory.

This worksheet supports the student in planning and writing their 13 mark essay style answer. It has a mark scheme attached and useful starter and connecting sentences. I used this following the study of the theories about criminal behaviour as exam practice. You could use it as an assessment or just to plan an answer.
