This is a set of comprehensions about the celebrations for King Charles III’s Coronation. They are aimed at Year 2 (ages 6-7). The comprehensions cover what a coronation is, a short history of Charles’s life, how Charles and others are celebrating, ways that children can get involved and the King’s charitable projects. There are three differentiated booklets. The booklets are split into five separate pages with questions on each page. The higher ability booklet has 15 questions, the middle ability has 13 questions and the lower ability contains 12 questions. There are colour and black & white versions of each booklet. 6th February 2018 marked 100 years since women over 30 were given the vote in Britain. This presentation was created to celebrate this historic anniversary but can be used at any time to teach children about the suffragettes and the Bill in Parliament that allowed women to vote. This resource is a 22 slide detailed, editable PowerPoint, perfect for teaching your children about this important topic. The slideshow covers women's rights prior to suffrage, the actions of the suffragettes, the arguments on either side, a detailed look at five particular suffragists, women during the war, the Act in Parliament, women in the 20th century and suffrage around the world. It concludes with some questions for further conversation. It is suitable for using with KS2 children and could be used for an assembly, a filler or a lesson introduction. Answers are also included. This includes tenses, sentence types, semi-colons, colons, brackets, hyphens, commas, subordinate clauses, prefixes, word classes, apostrophes, pronouns, synonyms and antonyms. This resource is a non-fiction comprehension activity for year 2, perfect for using in the summer term. There are three differentiated texts about summer activities, with differentiated questions. There are a range of ‘what,’ ‘who,’ and ‘why’ questions, some multiple choice tick questions and some that require more detailed answers. The activity is laid out in a booklet form, with four pages of pictures and short written extracts to read and 3-5 questions per page. The higher ability booklet has 18 questions in total. This is a plan and resources for a beginner’s Spanish lesson to use with KS2. It would be perfect to use as a first Spanish lesson, as it involves children learning the most basic vocabulary of ‘hello’ and ‘goodbye.’ The plan gives details of a group starter, how to teach the ‘greetings’ vocabulary, a whole class game, a speaking and listening activity, a simple reading and writing activity and a plenary. This resource includes an assembly plan and 19 slide PowerPoint to use for Women's History Month or International Women's Day on 8th March. No further preparation needed. The assembly is suitable to use with KS2 or secondary aged children. The slideshow provides the opportunity to discuss why we might focus on women's history, before moving on to give details on how women's circumstances changed from ancient times to today. There are 10 slides which outline key achievements of 10 different women, from Marie Curie to J K Rowling. The plan (pdf) gives details about how to use the slideshow. I like to lead assemblies that are interactive and relevant to the children's lives, so the plan gives plenty of opportunity for children to discuss ideas, give feedback and reflect. This resource is designed to use with year 2 children in preparation for the SPaG SATs. The activity allows children to practise subordination and coordination, a topic which came up a number of times in recent SPaG papers and sample papers. There are 18 questions for the children to answer. They must read the sentence and tick the correct word to fill the gap. This is how the subordination and coordination questions were formatted in the SATs papers. The activity is differentiated 3 ways, with the higher ability using a wider range of words and the lower ability choosing from only ‘and’ ‘but’ and ‘or.’ Answers are included. PDF file format. This is a plan and PowerPoint presentation for an assembly on The Last Supper, with a focus on the theme of betrayal. . The 5 page pdf plan is easy to follow and requires no resources, so is perfect for using at the last minute! I like leading assemblies that are interactive, engaging and relevant to the children’s lives. So, this assembly involves an anecdote about a childhood friend who betrayed you. You can use the examples in the plan or use an anecdote from your own childhood. This is then linked to Judas betraying Jesus before the events of Good Friday. There is a lot of opportunity for children to think about their own experiences and to feedback. There is also an example prayer/reflection to finish with. There is also an optional 34 slide PowerPoint which covers all parts of the assembly including the anecdote, The Last Supper story, the discussion/conclusion and the final prayer.
