This lesson is designed to help students practice their evaluation skills in preparation for Paper 3: Perspectives on Substantive Law. This is designed for the Eduqas exam board and the Contract Law option. This requires students to have studied all of the content but could be adapted to suit a group that hasn’t yet finished it. Evaluation Tips Slide of top evaluation tips Slide of generic evaluation points - these are points that students can make if they cannot think of anything or have a brain freeze in the exam Activity 1 - Essay Plan Match-Up In pairs students will be given an essay title and then arguments for and against. They should use these arguments to create an essay plan answering the question. Students should use this structure: Point Counter-Point Point This will need printing and cutting up. I recommend laminating and tying together with bands so they can be reused Activity 2 - Ideas for Reform Create a mind-map of reform proposals for each of the areas of law listed. There are three areas of law listed for tort, criminal and contract Activity 3 - Essay Practice Create an essay plan for each of the essay questions listed. Students can work individually, in groups or pairs. There are three essay questions listed for tort, criminal and contract. Plenary The plenary is an evaluation Kahoot. An evaluation point is displayed and students should select the legal authority that supports the point. The link to the Kahoot is provided in the notes section of the PowerPoint.

Unit: Unit 1: A Study of Religion: Christianity Exam Board: Eduqas This is a last minute revision lesson designed for students taking A-Level Religious Studies on the Eduqas exam board. This is for Paper 1: A Study of Religion and the Christianity option. This lesson is designed to be taught as one of the last revision lessons prior to the exam. Starter Key words wordsearch Students are given a list of definitions and from these they have to find the key words These will need printing out Activity 1 The first activity is an overview of the paper and top tips to do well This starts with recommended timings and an overview of the type of questions There are then some top tips for success Activity 2 There is then one PowerPoint slide for each topic. Each slide provides a brief summary of the topic including key words, Bible verses, scholars and quotes. These slides can be printed (a printer friendly version with white backgrounds is included) and given to students to help aid revision. You can also go through each one or targeted ones with the class as a last minute summary of particular topics Activity 3 This is a list of generic evaluation points that can be used if students are struggling to come up with points for 30 mark questions. This is designed to help support weaker students or to deal with brain freezes in the exam. Activity 4 Blurt sheets Students can choose a sheet based on which topic they would like to revise. They then write down everything they can remember about that topic in one colour pen They then swap sheets with the person next to them and write down additionally information in a second colour They can then use their notes to complete the sheets in a third colour Plenary The plenary is a cryptogram of a key quote by Augustine on sacraments Included is the PowerPoint, a printer friendly version and all relevant worksheets including blurt sheets. I also recommend giving students some past papers to look at.

Topic: Natural Law Unit: Unit 3: Religion and Ethics Exam Board: Eduqas This is a full lesson on the topic of Natural Law (Aquinas). This is a fun starter or plenary for a revision lesson on Christianity or could be set as a homework activity in preparation for exams/mocks. Students have 20 key word definitions on the back of the sheet. All they have to do is find the key word that matches each definition. I recommend laminating them and giving students a whiteboard pen to complete. This will allow you to reuse the resource multiple times. Topic: Angels Unit: Islam - Beliefs Exam Board: AQA These flash cards are a great revision activity for GCSE students or as an activity as part of a lesson angels. They can be used as a starter or plenary or as an independent revision task. They are also good for giving to students that need more structure and support in their revision. I use them as part of my revision points task where students go around and earn as many points as possible by completing different tasks. Printing Print a test sheet first! If you select print on short edge/flip on short edge they should print so that the correct front is to the correct back Laminate and cut to ensure they can be used again and again. You will need to trim slightly as they are slightly smaller than A4 size

Unit: Unit 2 Philosophy of Religion Topic: Carl Jung Paper: Paper 2 This is a quiz on Carl Jung and his responses to religion. This fits within the challenges to religion from science element of the Philosophy unit for A-Level Religious Studies. Quiz includes answers, print page 1 several times for students and then have one copy of page 2 for yourself. Alternatively print them all double sided so that students can flip over for marking. There is space to record marks at the bottom. This is a great starter/plenary and is also perfect as a revision activity. This is designed for the Eduqas syllabus but would suit other exam boards.
