I taught in a range of schools for many years before moving into FE, where I found creative and imaginative approaches just as rewarding with adults. Most of my resources are concerned with giving control to the learner, through a range of methods. Some are great for just giving them experience of examination questions, and the chance to discuss these with other learners. I now concentrate on spreading the range of creations from UK KS1 to KS4, and across the Common Standards.

Ordering of fractions for Year 3 of KS2. Revision of work in Year 2, then a PowerPoint presentation with identical worksheet. Use the PowerPoint as answers, or for class work on an interactive board. Great for discussion of equivalences, percentages or decimal equivalences.
Entirely suitable as revision in later years.
Specs:
'compare and order unit fractions, and fractions with the same denominators'
Notes and guidance (non-statutory)
They begin to understand unit and non-unit fractions as numbers on the number line, and deduce relations between them, such as size and equivalence. They should go beyond the [0, 1] interval.
Full lesson of activity.
Key stage 2 - getting more familiar with fractions:
'compare and order unit fractions, and fractions with the same denominators'
Simple stuff for young learners, or revision at later stages.
Colourful presentation with lots of images to show the relationship between mixed numbers and improper fractions, plus two worksheets covering the specs for year 5. A full lesson of stuff.
Specification, fractions year 5:
'recognise mixed numbers and improper fractions and convert from one form to the other and write mathematical statements > 1 as a mixed number [for example, 2/5 + 4/5 = 6/5 = 1 1/5]'
Great for revision in year 6 and above.
Straightforward set of questions on standard form, adapted and adopted from genuine past exam papers. Arranged for developing the complexity, and for printing and accessibility.
Includes converting between standard form and ordinary numbers, ordering, multiplication and division, and a few word problems.
Specs for KS4:
'interpret and compare numbers in standard form
Nothing fancy - just a full set of questions reflecting those set by the big exam boards.
Addition and subtraction of fractions with the same denominator - UK specs for KS2, Year 3. Great of a bit of revision in Year 4, but learners forget this stuff at every age!
Presentation with lots of images and questions, each followed by the answer, or a cut down version with just the questions, and a handout version for the learners to record their own solutions.
Colourful, and aiming for class engagement.
Plus two worksheets/activities that get the learner shading the fraction sums with a variety of shapes, to see the connection, and a mixed page of addition and subtraction for the learners to complete.
KS2 Maths - Year 3 Equivalent Fractions:
Year 3 equivalent fractions.
recognise and show, using diagrams, equivalent fractions with small denominators
Colourful powerpoint for sharing with a whole class, or for printing slides for cutting out and matching the shapes. You can buy them but they cost £25 a set of magnetic ones!
Lots of questions to match shapes to fraction concepts, and activities for the learners to do, including writing fraction chains and colouring in a fractions wall. Great for revision in later years.
A bundle of three sets of resources to introduce and develop standard form in KS3, and taking it through to GCSE requirements for Foundation. Big savings!
Mathematics Key Stage 2 Year 6:
use negative numbers in context, and calculate intervals across zero
solve number and practical problems that involve all of the above.
Everything you need to introduce the next stage, and give learners plenty of practice.
Maths Key Stage 2 Year 5 - 'interpret negative numbers in context, count forwards and backwards with positive and negative whole numbers, including through zero.'
Lots of questions, each of real contextual situations, to give the learners practice in developing understanding of negative numbers.
Great for quick revision at any stage.
Maths Key Stage 3 Standard Form:
• interpret and compare numbers in standard form A×10n, 1≤A
Four sides of questions ranging from simple conversion between ordinary numbers and standard form, to harder ones that require the application of assorted KS3 knowledge.
Great for revision at GCSE.
Key Stage 3 mathematics specs:
Standard Form KS3
• interpret and compare numbers in standard form A×10n, 1≤A
Two sides of data, for positive and negative indices, of science data to change between ordinary numbers and standard form.
Great for revision for GCSE classes.
Answers included!
Real life data to give the learners lots of practice using standard form. Easy conversion exercises leading to questions requiring calculation. All suitable for the current KS3 specs as well as solid revision and practice for GCSE.
Standard Form KS3
• interpret and compare numbers in standard form A×10n, 1≤A
GCSE
calculate with and interpret standard form A × 10n, where 1 ≤ A < 10 and n is an integer
Four great bundles of stuff for developing skills and understanding in the area of probability. Great for introducing topics in Years 7, 8 and 9, and for revising skills later on. All you need up to and including GCSE Foundation and Higher.
Plus two-way tables, which are a great way of giving opportunities for practising probability knowledge and skills.
Pythagoras, and trigonometric ratios of sin, cos and tan. Introduced and developed in a variety of ways covering everything on right-angled triangles for KS3 high flyers and GCSE revision, up to the top end of Foundation. Lots of presentations, worksheets and assessment material.
Big bundle of resources covering all aspects of GCSE statistics - histograms, cumulative frequency, box and whisker, frequency polygons, and averages of grouped data. Lots of differentiation, and all tried and tested in the classroom.
Simple reflection to introduce the concept. A dozen butterflies to sort, and half a dozen for the learners to make their own symmetrical butterflies.
And two sides of square shading shapes to complete. Plus a second set with assorted shapes to complete.
Year 4
• identify lines of symmetry in 2-D shapes presented in different orientations
• complete a simple symmetric figure with respect to a specific line of symmetry.
Pupils draw symmetric patterns using a variety of media to become familiar with different orientations of lines of symmetry; and recognise line symmetry in a variety of diagrams, including where the line of symmetry does not dissect the original shape.
Simple poster illustrating symmetrical, negative and positive skew. For display or for learner's reference.
In Word or PDF, plus original spreadsheet file for playing with.
Full set of resources to cover types of number for mathematics national curriculum in Year 5. Great for preparation for SATs in Year 6, or revision at KS3.
Four clear PowerPoints with lots of questions and exercises, all with answers.
Specifications:
‘Identify multiples and factors, including finding all factor pairs of a number, and common factors of two numbers.’
I’ve tried the files myself on a different computer, and had to adjust the size of text on four or five slides, but very easy to do. And because not all systems work the same I’ve included a PDF of each of the presentations - even easier to show and will always be as intended.
