A matching card activity to reinforce that probability ranges from 0 to 1. Learners have to match color spinners to the correct answer card. For example a spinner may have 2 red slices out of 5 slices and learners will have to find a card that says 0.4 chance of landing on red
I use it as a paired activity, though could be individual, it gets learners writing probability as fractions and then changing them to decimals, also reinforces that the chance of something happening only ranges from 0 to 1.

Can you tell from its opening weekend how much the new movie Solo: A Star Wars Story can earn in cinemas? This activity can be used anytime and is especially timely when there is a new blockbuster movie released. You can add future movies to the activity. The data for this activity can be found at: boxofficemojo.com.
Students compare “Opening Weekend” amounts to “Total Earned (Gross)” data to try to predict how much money the new Hans Solo movie (which earned almost $220,000,000 in its opening weekend in the U.S.) will make at cinemas. This task is accessible for any student who can plot points on a grid. More advanced students can create a line of best fit to model the data and make predictions. By plotting and analyzing the data students decide if they can, in fact, predict the future.
At functional skills and GCSE Maths learners are expected to plot data and predict results, this activity helps do that in a fun and enjoyable way that will grab their attention.
