A 22 slide PPT which introduces the weather instruments. Based on Irish curriculum so discusses the work of Met Eireann but this can of course be changed to suit the country/curriculum. Discusses each weather instrument, what it is used for and the unit of measurement for each. Doesn't go into detail about the workings of each instrument. Contains plenty of images of the instruments as well as a think-pair-share exercise, a class activity (which can be adapted to suit whatever textbook you are using) and a homework slide (which again will need to be adapted to suit the textbook in use). Also have included a graphic organizer on which the students can summarize what they have learnt.
A 45 slide PPT which explains in detail 'Primary Economic Activities'. Based on Irish JC curriculum and so, used Irish examples. Discusses farming, fishing, forestry, mining, oil, renewable/non-renewable resources etc... Is bright, well-laid out and easy to follow. Includes images and maps.
A 14 slide PPT which discusses the factors affecting climates and the factors which affect local climates. Includes a closing slide with 3 recap questions as well as two think-pair-share discussions. Also includes all animations and transitions. There are 2 cloze tests to go with the PPT which could be used as homework tasks, recap worksheets or as exams.

A detailed PPT with images, transitions / animations and 'to do' slides directing students to exam questions/questions from textbook. Uses Intel and RUSAL Aughinish as Irish case studies (Irish Curriculum).
Second resource is in a PPT format and is a revision quiz which can be used as a class activity or could be printed to make a worksheet.
Final resource is a 2 page word document which summarizes the topic and can be distributed to students after the topic or in their final year as revision notes.
Four PPTs on weathering...
1. An introduction to denudation and weathering as one process of denudation
2. A PPT on mechanical weathering (freeze-thaw action) including a simple animation, easy to copy diagrams and photos
3. A PPT on chemical weathering (carbonation) with detail on surface and underground features of carbonation using The Burren (Ireland) as a case study. Includes a link to a YouTube video on the Burren and lots of coloured diagrams
4. Final PPT is on Mass Movement. Discusses landslides, mudflows and soil creep. Has two links to YouTube clips which show landslides and lahars occurring
Each PPT is well laid-out and easy to follow. Key terms are highlighted/underlined. There are some 'to-do'/'homework' slides which direct the students to the text book/workbook I use (Geoplanet by EDCO) but these slides can be adapted to suit your own class/books.

An 18 slide PPT which explains The Greenhouse Effect and Global Warming. Suitable for junior students. Explains how the Greenhouse Effect is a natural occurance. Discusses the causes of global warming and possible solutions. Contains some cartoon illustrations, diagrams and links to 2 YouTube videos- one short clip from the National Geographic and another animated cartoon to facilitate visual learners. Also attached is a think-pair-share graphic organiser, used to introduce the topic, as well as a cloze test on the topic, which I use as an in-class assesment that is peer-corrected.
The to-do slide at the end of the PPT directs students to the Geoplanet workbook by EDCO. This can be adapted to suit your own book.
A 39 slide PPT based on soils. Includes images and graphs. Key points are underlined for easy note taking. Discusses how soils are formed and what the main components of soils are. Has a link to a Youtube clip which reiterates soil formation key points and explains the different layers of soil in basic terms. Then explains the soil profile/layers of soil. Finally mentions Irish soils and discusses brown soils and podzol soils in detail. Contains some ‘to do’ and homework slides which can be adapted to suit the class/curriculum. All transitions/animations are in place so it’s ready to use!
Textbook and workbook referred to in PPT are ‘Geoplanet’ by EDCO.
A 35 slide PPT based on Migration - highlights key terms . Includes some embedded video clips and has student activity slides, including a ‘watch and learn’ activity, a numeracy activity and prompts for a walking debate. Also includes some sample exam questions.

A 3 page word document which summarizes 'rivers'. Includes key terms such as meander and river basin, gives an overview of the different stages of the river, briefly explains the different features of erosion and deposition and uses a waterfall and a meanders/ox-bow lakes as two long question examples.
Very useful for revision but can also be used to teach the topic initially.

1. Hot Desert Climate PPT - A 26 slide PPT with transitions, images and underlined key words. Discusses location of climate type, precipitation, temperature, vegetation and animals. Has some ‘to do’ questions on slide 7/8 based on a graph showing rain and temperature levels. Also discusses desertification. Has a starter slide which explains the key terms associated with the topic. Two links to YouTube clips on the Sahel region (one with Qs) are also included. Slide 25 directs students to their workbook (Geoplanet by EDCO) and the final slide contains two past exam questions (Irish Junior Cert). Also attached is a word document with the most important key terms which could be projected as a lesson starter or could be distributed to the students and they could write the definition in themselves.
The PPT uses the Sahel region as a case study and has maps/info on this region within the PPT. Attached is a PDF map which shows very clearly which countries lie within/make up part of the region.
Also included is a word document with typed causes, consequences and solutions based on desertification. This should be copied, laminated and each sentence cut up. The students then work in small groups/pairs to categorize each sentence. This is a great starter activity to introduce this section of the desertification topic and will establish students’ prior knowledge.
PPT then goes into more detail on the above (causes, consequences and solutions). This can be done after the activity. Last slide is a homework slide based on the textbook I use but can be changed or deleted to suit.
2. Second PPT is a 9 slide presentation on the Aswan Dam and how it acts as a solution to desertification. It contains maps and images, gives a general overview of the Dam and explains the pros and cons associated with the Dam. Final slide is a debate/think-pair-share slide where students are asked to think more about the pros/cons and to discuss whether they would or would not like a dam located near their area.
Four PPTs which introduce the topic of weather and climate. First PPT presents the atmosphere, troposphere, latitude and sun. It is a 14 slide PPT with recap questions at the end.
Slide 2 is based on air masses and weather systems. It has 22 slides, plenty of images, links to animations, homework exercises and class activities. A lot of the activities are based on the Irish book ‘New Geo’ by EDCO and also linked with RTE (an Irish channel), however these can be adapted to suit your curriculum/textbook etc…
The ocean current PPT has 9 slides and includes a think-pair-share activity as well as 2 recap questions.
The final PPT is based on wind and the coriolis effect. There are 15 slides, a link to an animation and plenty of images. There are 2 activities incorporated into this PPT and again, they can be adapted or of course deleted.
