Note, I teach this in conjunction with the Historical Period: New Kingdom to Thutmose IV hence the 'quick reviews'. Reference to 'Edmodo' is for my students only but similar information can be found online.

Keywords for 12 Ancient History: Ancient Society-Sparta topic. Pages 1-4 are keywords to add to their topic glossary and pages 5-8 are a terminology quiz to accompany this and/or for revision so that students can learn, revise and apply these key terms in context. Pages 1-4 can be printed 4 to a page and pages 5-8 2 to a page.

Designed for my Year 10 History class but it would be suitable for other high school year groups and other subjects than history (e.g. Science, Geography and English). The idea with this is to get students to engage with topic information in textbooks or other sources and then turn this into a structured lesson. A dynamic learning activity that keeps students moving to make learning more fun and interesting as students 'speed-date' information about various aspects of the Industrial Revolution to complete a work sheet. Follow up questions and a modified version for students with literacy learning needs is included. Instructions are on the activity-provided in Word and PDF (because sometimes the layout of word changes from computer to computer).

Learning activities relating to the American Civil Rights Movement as part of Yr 10 History core Rights and Freedoms topic. I recommend doing American Civil Rights before Australian Aboriginal Rights in this unit because they in many ways inspired the Civil Rights Movement in Australia and doing the US first helps to provide a broader context.

Group work analysis of sources related to the Vikings with a focus on various perspectives, bias etc. Instructions are on the file along with the sources.

Aust. Curriculum Yr 8 History Vikings- Geography of the Viking homelands activity requires students to read about the Geography and then use the information to create their own map of the Viking homelands using the outline provided. Modified version also included + PDF copy as images have a habit of moving around on Word.

Learning activities related to map and the transition of the ancient world into the modern. Includes using a map as an historical source and a chronology exercise. This would work best if complemented by teacher explication of the reasons for the 'fall' of Rome, Constantine's relocation to Constantinople and where future topics (e.g. Vikings and Shoguns) to be studied fit into the chronology. It also includes a modified version of the task that has adaptations designed specifically for a student with difficulty writing and moving due to cerebral palsy.
