This resource was used in ICT to encourage students to make their own advert, but could easily be adapted for reluctant writers or made into an assembly to show how advertising works. i.e. Selling products people do not want to buy. This resource requires a newer version of PowerPoint or the player.

This little spreadsheet exercise helps students to know where cells are and they then colour them into make a Santa. This is ideal for low-level KS3 students or KS2 students to help them map cells to places on a spreadsheet. (I still can't believe how quiet it kept the year 8's whilst they did it.)

This encourages students to think about what they are good at, what they need to improve on, the opportunities available to them and what might stop them achieving them. Very handy for PSHE, Drama or Business studies.

There are times when you're class is going wrong or a colleague is ill and you've been asked to cover, you have no plan, no materials and a textbook that is boring your students to tears... This lesson shows students how to do effective slide builds for presentations. This is an important skill when presenting slide shows to slowly reveal information and keep the audience interested. This could also be used in English as part of their Speaking tasks.

Students really enjoy making a Top Trumps Database and its a nice way to introduce them to basic Databasing concepts. (Designed for MS Access 2007 & 2010)

This resource is a handout that enables students to create their own money board game. It is useful for revising personal finance in PSHE. In Business studies it can be used to revise Marketing and Competition. Students will need paper, colouring pencils, sellotape and scissors to make the game.

In my role as Internet Safety Officer, I originally did this presentation for an assembly, but have since used it to guide parents. As a workshop with questions it takes about 45 minutes, but as an assembly you might need to take out some of the slides to fit your assembly timings. There are notes in the slides if this is being presented by somebody who is not technical and the aim is to encourage discussion between parents and children.

Students very much enjoy discussing topics in Economics that are relevant to then. This little cluster of resources enables teachers to discuss the recent launch of the Kindle Fire and how it affects demand and supply for the iPad. It includes a student made poster as well in Publisher and PDF Format. Do students think this is the correct interpretation or do thet think they could do it better? (This resource could also be used for ICT when discussing new technology.)

This is a complete BTEC Unit 1 including the assignment and Scheme of Work. It has been used and moderated in the past. I hope it is useful. If you update it, please let me know and I will repost or link to the updated version.

This lesson focuses on the role of advertising agencies and what they can do for a company. In the original plan I gave students material to read, but you might prefer to allow them to do a Web-hunt to analyse the role of the agency.

Although Matilda was supposed to be 5, I'd challenge any 5 year old to actually do this maths in their heads! If you are reading Matilda to a class, this is a very nice way to introduce Spreadsheets in KS2 or could be used as an exercise in KS3. You will need the book Matilda by Roald Dahl (Pages 45 - 47) to make full use of this exercise, but could be done as a standalone. Also a good example of real life Maths for a Maths lesson. (I would stress this is based on the book rather than the film, which has different Maths)

This little video and associated materials helps students to make a spaceship and get it to move in Scratch. There is also a link to the completed game on Scratch which you might want to share.
