Multiplying Polynomials - Worksheets

(0)
Worksheets for practicing multiplying monomials, binomials, trinomials, and polynomials with four or more terms, with and without exponents. Every Worksheet has 12 questions, which start simple but then develop gradually with questions 11 & 12 being more challenging. The 6 Sets are also arranged in an order that will hopefully help you to plan building the students’ knowledge, skills and confidence with multiplying polynomials. By being able to randomise the numbers in the questions at the click of a button you will be able to generate sufficient worksheets for as much practice throughout the year as is needed to keep the skills alive. Worksheet Set 1 Students are asked to multiply simple monomials by (mainly) binomials, with some tri- & a quadri- nomial. There are no exponents to calculate. Worksheet Set 2 Students are required to multiply binomials by a monomial, moving a stage further to include exponents in each term. Worksheet Set 3 This set involves multiplying two or more monomials each with a number of variables with exponents. Worksheet Set 4 Students now practice multiplying two binomials which will include calculating multiplying variables with exponents, plus the added step of needing to combine like terms to obtain the final answer. Worksheet Set 5 This Set contains questions that include multiplying binomials by trinomials, trinomials by trinomials and trinomials raised to the power of 2 and 3 and students will practice combining like terms. Worksheet Set 6 This has an extra element in that instead of only using the standard algorithms for multiplying polynomials there is an alternative using Pascal’s triangle as a way to calculate binomial terms raised to various powers through recognising the symmetry of the powers and building of the coefficients for each term. There is additional support material for this set. Answers are automatically generated every time. Note These resources work with the official Adobe Acrobat Reader on Windows or Mac computers.

Compare Fractions with different numerators AND denominators

(0)
Compare two fractions with different numerators and different denominators using visual fraction models leading to using a numerical method by finding a common denominator. Reviewing earlier work Whilst the content of these worksheets centres around fractions with different numerators AND denominators they begin with a review of comparing fractions with the same denominator or same numerator with the number line or rectangle bar. There is also a worksheets with purely numerical questions, but you may want to leave this until after beginning the ‘Investigation’. Comparing fractions with 1/2 Again you have the same visual models as above, but you can choose whether the range of values of the denominators are from 3 or 10 or from 8 to 20. Investigating patterns when comparing patterns Here you could decide to investigate an alternative way to compare the fractions above by looking for any simple patterns in the results obtained so far that will allow your students to answer questions on comparing fractions without the need for visual models or a numerical method. Comparing fractions with different numerators and different denominators We now get to the core of the topic. There are 3 levels, all with the choice of using the number line or rectangle bars. Level 1: Denominators are between 3 and 10 Level 2: Denominators are between 3 and 20, but one is a multiple of the other. Here, it may be useful to refer back to the work done on Equivalent fractions as a double check on the answers could be done numerically. Level 3: Denominators are between 3 and 20 Transition from visual models to a numerical method At this point in the process there needs to be a transition from using visual aids to a numerical approach which students will be using in the future. Students get to see that the easiest way to compare two fractions is if they have the same denominators, then there is only the numerators to think about. This is explained firstly through using a visual fraction model which is then linked to the idea of creating a common denominator between the two fractions by multiplying the 2 denominators together (all explained in the Guide). Numerical Worksheets There are 6 basic worksheet templates here: Numerators or Denominators the same Comparing fractions to 1/2 Compare Fractions (1) - Denominators from 3 to 12 Compare Fractions (2) - One Denominator is a multiple of the other Compare Fractions (3) - Denominators from 3 to 20 Compare Fractions (4) - Denominators from 8 to 20 How many worksheets are there in total ? Add and Subtract Fractions with the same Denominator

(0)
*Year 4 programme of study: Number – fractions - add and subtract fractions with the same denominator’ Pupils continue to practise adding and subtracting fractions with the same denominator, to become fluent through a variety of increasingly complex problems beyond one whole. * 14 sets of progressive differentiated worksheets to ensure your students develop all the skills needed to add and subtract fractions and mixed numbers with like denominators. They combine to create a smooth transition in the learning process from adding and subtracting fractions less than one to adding and subtracting mixed numbers, all with the same denominators. The approach used here is as follows: Firstly convert the mixed numbers to improper fractions. Perform the addition or subtraction, essentially with the numerators of the improper fractions. Convert the resultant improper fraction back to a mixed number. As you can see in the list below there are some important additional interim steps included to make the process complete: Set 1: Add 2 fractions with the sum < 1 Set 2: Add 3 fractions with the sum < 1 Set 3: Subtract with both fractions < 1 Set 4: Numerical questions: Addition & subtraction, all fractions and answers < 1 Set 5: Convert improper fractions to mixed numbers Set 6: Convert mixed fractions to improper fractions Part 1: Whole number = 1 Set 7: Convert mixed fractions to improper fractions Part 2: Whole numbers from 1 to 4 Set 8: Numerical questions: Convert mixed fractions to improper fractions Set 9: Add 2 fractions , each < 1 but their sum >1 Set 10: Numerical questions: Add 2 or 3 fractions with sum > 1 Set 11: Add 2 mixed numbers Set 12: Subtract mixed numbers Set 13: Numerical questions: Add 2 mixed numbers Set 14: Numerical questions: Subtract mixed numbers All the above, except where it states ‘Numerical questions’ , use visual fraction models. Within all of the sets you have a choice of the level of questions. For the worksheets with the visual fraction models, you can decide on 3 levels how much information to provide. For the Numerical questions there are 2 levels where the range of denominators used are different, and in set 13 & 14 the range of whole numbers. A little reminder on each Worksheet At the top of all the worksheets using the visual fraction model there is an example shown as a memory jogger and as a teaching tool if needed. How many Worksheets are there in total ? In principle almost unlimited. The 14 sets and the 2 or 3 levels within each set you have over 35 to choose from. BUT on top of that, at the click of a button numbers are randomised, so the questions change every time which allows you to create new worksheets at the same level for extra practice or revision throughout the year or even give groups of pupils in your class different sets of questions.

Matching Number to Quantity for Kindergarten

(0)
An awareness of the relationship between number and quantity is essential for long term success with math and begins here in Kindergarten. Matching numbers and quantities of objects, counting on & finding ‘one more’ are covered here with Worksheets and Digit Teaching Resources. Worksheet Sets Set 1: Matching Quantity to a Number Given numbers from 1 to 10, pupils color in the appropriate number of objects (Hedgehogs). At the same time, they write in the numbers as they color, counting as they go along, connecting quantity, numbers and cardinality. Set 2: One More … Given a set of objects from 1 to 10, pupils have to write down the number that matches. There is space to write in the numbers as they count forward from 1. They are then asked to write down the number that is ‘one more’ than the number of objects shown. The pupils are learning to ‘count on’ without the visual aid of an additional object. Set 3: Matching Quantity to a Number up to 20 Pupils are given a quantity of objects and they must choose the correct answer from 3 numbers shown. This Set of Worksheets has 3 levels: -1 to 10 objects in each question -1 to 20 objects in each question -10 to 20 objects in each question How many Worksheets are in each set ? Lots and lots. There are 8 questions on a Worksheet. At the click of a button the numbers and their position on the Worksheets randomly change, so you can create lots of different pages for your pupils to practice with. Answers are automatically generated every time. Digital Teaching Material These are designed to help you introduce the content of the worksheets to the whole class on an Interactive Whiteboard, or on a PC or Mac for 1-1 tuition and again you have (almost) unlimited examples to practice with. There is one Digital Teaching Resource to accompany Set 1 & 2 Worksheets Note These resources work with the official Adobe Acrobat Reader on Windows or Mac computers.

Equivalent Fractions - with & without visual support

(0)
Year 3 programme of study - Number – fractions- recognise and show, using diagrams, equivalent fractions with small denominators. These resources contain three basic approaches to understanding equivalent fractions: Using 2-D shapes in the form of rectangles The number line. The numerical processes with multipliers and divisors. Equivalent Fractions with rectangles Equivalent fractions are modeled using rectangles, each representing the same area of a whole. This is an ideal visual way to introduce equivalent fractions before proceeding onto the using the number line or purely the numerical method. The 4 Sets of Worksheets provide a step by step approach as follows: Worksheet Set 1: Pupils are asked to write down the (equivalent) fractions of two colored-in rectangles. Worksheet Set 2: Pupils colour in the areas on two rectangles that represent two given equivalent fractions. Worksheet Set 3: Given two coloured-in rectangles and the denominators of the equivalent fractions, pupils must determine the numerators and the multiplier that connects the two fractions. Worksheet Set 4: Given two coloured-in rectangles pupils are asked to write down the full fractions coloured-in and the multiplier connecting the two fractions. How many worksheets are in each set ? (almost) Unlimited. At the click of a button the numbers and the corresponding shaded parts of the rectangles are randomised, so you can create as many different worksheets as you need for classwork, homework, revision, preparing for assessment, fillers etc and the numbers will change every time. Equivalent fractions on the number line. Equivalent fractions are located at the same point on the number line. The printable Worksheets consist of question containing 2 number lines divided up into a different number of equal parts between 0 and 1 which the pupils then have to compare Worksheet Set 1: Pupils are asked to write down the equivalent fraction to the one shown taking into account the number of equal parts on the line. Worksheet Set 2: Pupils have to write down the two equivalent fractions indicated on parallel number lines, each number line divided into a different number of equal parts. How many worksheets are in each set ? As with the worksheets with rectangles …almost Unlimited. Answers are automatically generated every time. Year 1 programme of study -Number – number and place value. Count to and across 100, forwards and backwards, beginning with 0 or 1, or from any given number. Given a number, identify one more and one less. These (almost) unlimited Worksheets will enable your pupils not only to practice counting forwards and backwards within 4 ranges of numbers, but if needed practice one range as many times as needed . Each question contains space for 5 terms of a sequence The ranges of number in the worksheets are: 1-20: 3 numbers are visible, pupils have to find the missing 2 terms. 1-50: 2 numbers are visible, pupils have to find the missing 3 terms. 1-100: 1 numbers is visible, pupils have to find the missing 4 terms. 1-120: 1 number is visible, pupils have to find the missing 4 terms. Unlimited Worksheets ? You choose one of the 4 ranges by clicking on 1 of 4 buttons, which randomise the numbers within the range, so there’s lots of opportunity to practice at each level. You can also blank out all the spaces, so pupils can create their own worksheet. An Answer sheet is created automatically. Teaching Page For whole class teaching around an Interactive Whiteboard or for one-to-one tuition on a computer, this is ideal for introducing this topic and preparation for the Worksheets. It covers the same 4 ranges as on the worksheets with endless examples for your pupils to practice with. Note These resources work with the official Adobe Acrobat Reader on Windows or Mac computers.
Add and Subtract with Dienes within 100

Add and Subtract with Dienes within 100

‘Dienes’ refer to base-ten blocks used to introduce place value, addition, and subtraction. Dienes that pupils can manipulate with their hands are common in most elementary classrooms with the rods for 10s & squares for units etc. However at some point there needs to be a transition to the more formal methods of adding and subtracting, and this is the purpose of these resources. Students now see the Dienes to be added or subtracted, and with simple mental arithmetic add (or subtract) the rods (10s) and the units (1s) to obtain the solution. This is where it begins. The next step is to perform calculations where there is a need for ‘regrouping’ units into 10s for addition and ‘borrowing’ from the 10s to the units for subtraction. This transition from physical Dienes to Dienes on paper will then provide a good foundation to move onto addition and subtraction without the need for visual support. Worksheets & Digital Teaching Resources Addition Both the worksheets & teaching resources are set at two levels: The sum of the units are always below 10 The solutions require regrouping of 10 ones as 1 ten. Subtraction Both the worksheets & teaching resources are again set at two levels. No borrowing is required, the minuend is always larger than the subtrahend. The minuend is always smaller than the subtrahend, so the solution requires borrowing from the 10s to the units How many worksheets are in each set ? Almost Unlimited. At the click of a button all numbers are randomised, so you can create as many different worksheets as you need for classwork, homework, revision, preparing for assessment, fillers etc and the numbers will change every time. The Digital Teaching Resources are designed to be used on an interactive whiteboard for whole class teaching or on a computer for one-to-one tuition. You can keep on generating as many new questions as you need. No-Prep Worksheets These are straightforward no-prep worksheets that require very little instructions. They are ideal for lesson fillers, and to have ready for a replacement teacher if needed. Answers are automatically generated every time. This resource contains 11 Sets of scaffolded NO PREP Worksheets where students learn to express a fraction with denominator 10 as an equivalent fraction with denominator 100, and use this to add two fractions with respective denominators of 10 and 100. Students will practice these skills using visual models, and then through a section of transitional worksheets move onto numerical exercises and challenges for the early finishers. To try out a Freebie sampler of one of these worksheets click here. The first 6 sets provide practice for the core work. With the visual model of squares divided into 10 and 100 parts, students are asked to find the fractions colored in - Set 1 color in the areas indicated by the given fraction - Set 2 Set 3 - students practice looking for the connection between equivalent fractions given in 1/10ths and 1/100ths using the visual models. Seeing that 1 tenth is the same as 10 hundredths is central to the whole process. A Teaching Page is included in the pack that shows the connection between 10ths and 100ths visually and numerically (multiplying numerator and denominator by 10) which will prepare your students for Set 4 which contains numerical questions. Sets 5 and 6 provide practice adding 1/100ths with and without visual support Sets 7, 8 & 9 - the core of the topic - adding a mix of 1/10ths & 100ths as follows Set 7 - add these fractions with visual support Set 8 - numerical questions with an intermediate step where students must show their conversion of the tenth fraction to a hundreth before the final addition Set 9 - numerical questions Challenges For the students who have mastered the above there are two extra sets of worksheets Set 10 - adding 3 fractions with a mix of tenths and hundredths Set 11 - equations with 3 fractions BUT students have to find the value of one of the addends. How many worksheets are there in total ? Almost unlimited … There are** 11** worksheet templates BUT at the click of a button numbers are randomized, so the questions change every time allowing you to create new worksheets at the same level for extra practice or revision throughout the year or even give groups of pupils in your class different sets of questions again all at the same level. The multiple levels of worksheets means that you can differentiate from the very start and have the freedom to set the pace of work that you deem is best for each student. No-Prep Worksheets These are straightforward no-prep worksheets that require very little instructions. Simply CLICK-PRINT AND GO. This makes them ideal to have printed and ready for a replacement teacher if needed. Answers are automatically generated every time.
