GCSE TRANSLATIONS ON 6 DIFFERENT TOPICS + 40 PHRASES TO PRACTISE TENSES

(0)
Attached are two worksheets to practise Translation ( English to French) for the New GCSE Exam. The first one is a series of 10 sentences on 6 different topics ( 60 sentences overall) . Topics include: Food & Health, Education, Environment, Education, Description,&Family, Hobbies, Holidays and Area. The second worksheet focuses on the major tenses( Present, Perfect, Imperfect, Near Future Future) and include a range of 40 sentences on various topics. These simple sentences are aimed at pupils, aiming for a 5 to 7 grade at GCSE, who would appreciate some “back to basics” . They are deliberately artificial in style, so as to practise the key structures. I would go through these in class, eliciting suggestions, then writing some parts on the board, leaving gaps for pupils to complete (depending on the skill of the class). Pupils could of course adapt the texts by rewriting them with their own details and you could get weaker students to underline verbs in advance, or identify and underline difficult vocabulary. These Word docs are fully editable, so teachers can adapt the sentences.
