Three lessons from a sequence that focus on nouns.
The first lesson out of three that focuses on nouns. These have been written with 5/6 in mind but are easily adaptable.
This lesson acts as an introduction/ recap of nouns with the focus then being on common and proper nouns. Included are all the resources needed for the lesson including the plan, slides and differentiated resources.

77 different questions for Chapter One of The Firework-Maker's Daughter by Philip Pullman that test a range of skills. These can be used for guided reading sessions or to give children as activities to support guided reading sessions/ whole class reading comprehensions. The questions follow the order of the chapter but don't have answers attached as the answers can vary depending on the child's opinion.

Simple Sentences and Word Classes
Three differentiated worksheets that focus on simple sentences and being able to identify different word classes such as nouns, verbs, adjectives and adverbs. This then moves on to getting children to explain what is wrong with simple sentences before higher attainers check a passage to see if it follows the subject and predicate relationship before explaining why authors and writers wouldn't stick to just that.
Homophones Lesson
A fully resourced lesson that focuses on homophones whilst also briefly visiting homonyms. This lesson identifies what homophones are, getting children to define different examples of homophones as well as then deciding on which is the correct option when they are used in sentences.
Included is the lesson presentation and three differentiated worksheets.
Elephant Information Texts
Three differentiated information texts about elephants. These can be used for a number of reasons and help give children an example of how information texts can be set out, with each one including an introduction, three main paragraphs and a conclusion.
Elephant Reading Comprehension MA
A reading comprehension aimed at middle ability children within the group with 22 questions and answers included that get children to practise using information texts and their layout to help them answer questions. Written for Year 5 in mind but easily useable between Year 4 and 7.

Reading Comprehension - The Firework-Maker's Daughter
A whole class reading comprehension session based on Chapter Three from the Firework-Maker's Daughter. The session focuses on reading the chapter before looking at any vocabulary children are unsure of. Children will then be shown how to pick out key words from questions as well as looking at what question words are looking for. Finally, children will be able to work through one of three differentiated worksheets that check their comprehension skills/ deeper understanding.
