Five weeks worth of writing skills to practise independently. These can be used as a starter activity when pupils come in at the start of the morning, at the start of an English lesson as a starter or at any other spare moment during the day or even as a short intervention with a child or particular group of children. The activities over the week work on different skills around writing. These are similar across the booklets so far and include: Putting capital letters and full stops in the right place Completing ideas so they become full sentences Using because, but and so to complete sentences Writing their own independent sentences Using other conjunctions within a sentence Creating sentences that use particular punctuation to mark the end Editing and improving sentences There is also a themed booklet included with all the writing tasks for the week linked to thunder storms. This has been used to support a writing unit for a setting description that involves a storm but can also be used as a general resource. Over time, more booklets will continue to be added that work on different skills alongside the ones previously mentioned.

A lesson that focuses on being able to recap word classes with a particular focus on nouns and adjectives. Included in the resource is a lesson PowerPoint that recaps regularly as a class what a noun, verb, adjective and adverb are before focusing particularly on nouns (with a focus on common and proper nouns) and adjectives. Also included are five different activities to choose from depending on which is most appropriate for your class or that can then be chosen for specific groups of children. Answers are included where possible. Three lessons that look at focusing on developing understanding of Easter and Ramadan before being able to make comparisons between the two different religious festivals. The lessons also focus on developing reading as well as religious understanding. The first lesson focuses on Easter. This includes a text with information about Easter. The text also includes a section for vocabulary and a section for adding notes. The text forms the basis of the lesson (which can then be found in the lesson PowerPoints) that includes developing reading fluency of the text, discussion of the vocabulary that forms the left hand side of the text, a chance to discuss Easter, with an opportunity for the class to make notes, and a quiz and discussion to end the lesson. The second lesson focuses on Ramadan. This follows the same style of the first lesson with a text with information about Ramadan. The text again includes a section for vocabulary and a section for adding notes. The text forms the basis of the lesson (which can then be found in the lesson PowerPoints) that includes developing reading fluency of the text, discussion of the vocabulary that forms the left hand side of the text, a chance to discuss Ramadan, with an opportunity for the class to make notes, and a quiz and discussion to end the lesson. The third lesson then provides the opportunity for children to revisit the two texts about Easter and Ramadan before engaging in discussions and an activity that require them to consider similarities and differences between Easter and Ramadan, completing a Venn diagram to finalise the sequence of lessons.
