'oa' Writing Lesson

A writing lesson that focuses on being able to use the ‘oa’ phoneme. Included is a lesson PowerPoint that breaks into two different activities and an activity for the first activity with answer sheet. The first part of the lesson focuses on being able to identify the missing sounds/ graphemes based on an image and the ‘oa’ already provided. This then leads into an activity that requires children to apply this independently. Following this, children will practise as a group using them in sentences before independently writing their own sentences.

A workbook suitable for children in Year 5 and 6. This 22 page booklet looks at a range of aspects, getting children to work through questions related to areas of grammar and in being able to use a dictionary accurately. It is perfect for 5-10 minute bursts during register time or can be used as an extended activity for a lesson if plans have fallen through/ changed, with children able to pick it up as and when.

A fact file about the Five Ks that can be used in a number of ways. This includes potentially using it in reading lessons and creating comprehension activities linked to it, within an R.E lesson looking at Sikhism or the Five Ks in particular and can lead to various activities such as vocabulary based tasks or writing linked to it. Additionally, it could also be used a model text for information texts and identifying features of an information text. There are two versions of the fact file: one in colour and one in black and white for printing purposes.
