Reading comprehensions related to Pokemon to try and engage children whilst also developing their comprehension skills. Included is a fact file about Charmander with three differentiated sets of 10 questions with the answers included.
A wordmat/ display poster for each of the openers for ISPACE with lots of different openers within each section and then examples of how they can be used in sentences. Useful for children who are struggling with varying their openers and for children who may want to find quick examples when writing.
A range of English resources available to help teach different aspects in Years 5 and 6. These include fully planned topics of writing genres with resources and teaching slides included, reading comprehension activities, grammar activities and different word mats and self-assessment grids to help children.
A powerpoint that looks at both metaphors and similes. This identifies what they are and how they can be used in different ways. These are backed up with examples of metaphors and similes in use and also include activities to do with children finishing sentences are writing their own sentences that involve similes or metaphors, as well as identifying whether sentences are a simile or metaphor.
A powerpoint that can be used for teaching about commas. It focuses on commas for lists and commas for different clauses, showing examples of how they can be used as well as having tasks that children can complete to check their understanding.
56 different questions for Chapter Two of Billionaire Boy. These can be used for guided reading sessions or to give children as activities. To support guided reading sessions, all questions have the relevant page numbers (paperback) and answers at the end.

A lesson that focuses on imperative verbs within the context of writing instructions. Included is the lesson presentation as well as two differentiated activities for children to work through (MA further differentiated through adult support).
A presentation that looks at what main clauses (simple sentences) are with children before getting children to identify the subject and predicate within sentences and identifying different types of nouns.

An activity that looks at being able to create a fast food business with children. This activity can be done over a day or over a number of days/ weeks through discrete sessions. In groups they will allocate themselves roles and take responsibility for different aspects of the business. This all ends in children having to show their advert and pitch, with one group being crowned the winner at the end.
N.B: Children will need filming equipment for their advert whether it be a camera or iPad.
Any fast food advert will do for the advert example.
Any example pitch from the Apprentice will work appropriately.

This is a PowerPoint that includes 100 slides looking at a big range of grammar and punctuation features. These include looking at defining, showing examples and for some activities for children to complete.
This can be used for a range of features including: revision activities, starters, morning activities for some and to just quickly find examples for a range of features.
