This series of resources is to present to teachers some wider ideas as to what Mathematics and learning actually is. It steps outside the National Curriculum and asks some searching questions about what we are doing and why we are doing it.
It is linked to a website called maths anarchy.
These resources will help to start ideas about reading and writing play scripts. They include a planning format for a whole play, a model for beginning a play script from a known text and a poster with the features of a play script and related issues.
Children can have fun with improvisation of a dramatic event, film the scenes and look at it to rehearse and analyze what they will write. Re film and show to present work to others.
this is demonstrations of skills used for close drawing and making a selection of minibeast designs. There is also guidance for making a scene about where they live.

This resource has a power point to demonstrate the idea of this resource, and show what the finished product would look like. It includes a sheet of 17 word problems which can be printed out, laminated and used with younger children. The hands-on aspect of this idea is rooted in the concept of concrete experiences for younger children, to help them grasp more abstract ideas.
This resource includes a power point of Reception class Kites. It also includes a planning sheet for the activity.
There are instructions for making the kites.
This set of resources has a powerpoint of students work, which is fairly self-explanatory. We made a Universe, colour mixing and matching, tissue paper skies, 3D cosmonauts/astronauts, designing space badges from space missions.
A three week series of planning also included.
This is a selection of ideas for supporting children who find it difficult to access the general classroom activities. They help the child to contextualize reading and writing, as well as the recognition skills and intrinsic meaning within the process of learning to read, and then write.
The formats can be changed to suit children as individuals, and their particular interests and choices.
Could also be used in other situations, such as supporting children learning English as a new language. These items could also be made more complex, as the child progresses.
This set includes a power point of Aztec Art produced by Primary School children. It shows a range of outcomes- weaving, drawing, clay modelling and printing.
There is one planning sheet from a lesson on this topic.
Power point activity to promote discussion with class or smaller group. Focus on fruits that produce seeds and to recognise the seeds of a variety of plants. Further discussion on other related issues about seed production and growth. This should work alongside real seeds and a real seeds collection.
This series of lessons has some resources for use over a three or four week period. It includes a mapping document; a four week overview; a three week planning sequence; a powerpoint of Art work produced and some pupils self-assessment remarks... Everything is flexible and is not meant to be a definitive pattern.
It is best if children can work as independently as possible and learn the skills they need, as they themselves see the need.
Mrs. Sides has got to like it....
