60 word flashcards covering all sounds from Phase 5 in Letters and Sounds. Cut out and laminate the sounds and you have a great, durable set of words to complement the teaching of phonics. Each picture has a picture representing the word - great for EAL learners. I have purposefully chosen some unusual words and images. This is because most pupils at KS1 age, learn so rapidly, their minds working as sponges. There should be no ceiling to the vocabulary taught to children – they should be exposed to a varied and interesting selection of words and images to ignite their curiosity and broaden their mental word banks. These word flashcards can be used for so many things. They can be used in the teaching of phonics but can also be given to pupils to work independently on many different activities. There are 3 words for each sound and the sound is highlighted in green. Also a super resource to aid phonic interventions. One key element in the teaching of phonics is to revisit previous sounds taught - using these flashcards is a great way to do just that! Here are some normal and some silly sentences. Children work together to sort them into silly and non-silly.

Group names for around the classroom, laminate and write children's names with dry-wipe (can then be changed) Pearl, ruby, emerald, sapphire, diamond

Font and colour can be changed but sounds are typed out to be used for display. Put somewhere children stand to line up so they can practise their sounds as often as possible.

Can easily be changed for any sound that is being looked at. This sheet can be done as independent phonics activity or homework. Children draw the picture to fit the word.

Some example instructions, children can independently write some of their own instructions that their robot (partner or teacher) can then follow.
