A fun lesson that is a good way to complete a unit on Tectonic Hazards (Earthquakes and Volcanoes) that allows pupils to make a creative piece of writing about tectonic hazards. This lesson includes a worksheet to help the pupils to write poems about Earthquakes or Volcanoes. It also includes some example poems to act as an example. This lesson was a recommended resource by the TES. It is a fantastic memorable fun lesson where the students are challenged but have a lot of fun. King Charles II is dying, and only the expert knowledge of the best doctors in the UK can save his life. This lesson was created to be used in the Medicine Through Time SoW, but can be used with other year groups or as a revision activity. This lessons is a decision making exercise that builds on the pupils knowledge of Medieval medical treatments. Students need to use what they have learned to complete several rounds of a decision making activity to try to save the life of the King. Each round they are scored on how effective their treatment would have been. This is an excellent lesson as it is fun, memorable and challenging.

This is a fun revision activity designed for students studying GCSE/A Level Religious Studies. It can also be used for KS3 as part of a lesson. This is based on the popular New York Times Game Connections this fun revision game is designed to help the students to prepare for the exams or end of year assessments. The topics I have included are: -Christian Beliefs -Marriage and Family -Living the Christian Life -Matters of Life and Death The game is simple; Students need to group together four words and figure out what the connection is between them. But many of the words can fit into multiple groups so they need to be careful. **I have included an answer sheet to make it easier for the teacher! ** As a bonus I have also included a blank template so students/teachers can make their own connections. This could also be used for other topics/subjects. It can also be used for KS3/4 or 5. If you like this resource please rate and review it!

**This is a fantastic assembly designed to deal with the issue of Gossip or rumours in a school context. ** It was observed by Ofsted and they said it was Outstanding This assembly looks at: -The definition of gossip -Where the term comes from -Why people gossip -What surveys show about gossip in the UK today -What the impact of gossip is -How it can be avoided -6 tips to reduced gossip The assembly can be a straight forward teacher presentation or you can include some audience participation (Q&As, a demonstration of gossip, a quick survey) There are notes under every slide to help the presenter. The assembly should take 15 to 20 minutes. If you are short on time you could skip the video and the quotes. I have also included a follow up activity for form tutors following the assembly to consolidate the key message. All images in this presentation are free to use under a Creative Commons Licence.

This is an fantastic assembly that explores the current Gender Pay Gap in the UK and the reasons why there is still a gap. The assembly covers: -Life for women 100 years ago compared to today -History of the gender pay gap -Reasons why there is still a gap today -Gender pay gap around the world -Case study - Iceland -What can be done about the gap today -Video and quotes This is a powerful and important message that all young people need to hear. This assembly was delivered to year 7, 8, 9, 10 and 11. It could easily be delivered to KS2 or KS5. This assembly was observed and rated as outstanding for its content, message, visuals and delivery.

This is an outstanding assembly about the future and the choices students will have to make to get ahead of the competition. This is a perfect assembly for student building up to their exams. The assembly gets them to think like employers and ask them who they would choose when faced with three applicants and ten different areas. For each area (such as punctuality, references, experience, appearance etc.) the students are presented with three options and they have to pick the one they think would make the best impression. The point being these are all situations they may well be faced with in the future and they need to make the right choices to get ahead. This assembly also includes a video (which is optional based on how much time you have) as well as a powerful message. This assembly was delivered to year 11 and year 13 but would also be suitable for KS3. The assmbly should take about 15 to 20 min to deliver (less if you don’t show the video clip).

This is a really interesting and well resourced lesson that investigates the Sahara desert and the challenges of living life in such a hostile environment, This lesson can be used as a one off (stand alone) or as part of a whole unit (such as my Fantastic Places unit, also available in my shop). A really interesting lesson that forces the students to use their imaginations, decision making and empathy.

This is a fantastic assembly that I used for an interview about refugee week. It has been updated for 2023. It covers the 5 W’s of refugee week, including: -Definitions of refugee, immigrant, asylum seeker -The History of refugees -The reasons why there are so many refugees today -What the future may look like -What we can do to help It also has a fantastic poem that is aimed at making the students think about this as an issue. A well planned, interesting and important assembly.

Easter Island - Fantastic Places

This can be used as a stand alone lesson about Easter Island or it can be used in the Fantastic places unit of work (also available in my shop). This lesson looks at Easter Island and how the greed and stupidity of it’s people nearly destroyed the island. This is an important story and can teach us lessons about the world we live in today. The students will get a chance to practice their analytical skills and will have a deeper look at the history of Easter Island. The final task gets the students to use empathy to illustrate the key turning points in the islands history. This lesson includes a bell activity, a starter, main activities, plenary and homework. It also features differentiated activities for the less able. A fun and colourful lesson.

An excellent lesson that gets the students to work as a teams to solve various problems. Unsurprisingly this lesson involves a lot of teamwork with fun activities that get the students off their seats and competing with each other in groups. The main feature of the lesson is a plane crash activity that is both challenging and fun. The students LOVE this lesson!

What was life like in the Ghetto?

This lesson gets the students to investigate life in the Warsaw Ghetto in WW2 through a number of Primary and Secondary Sources. It tests the students source skills and also builds on their knowledge of the Holocaust and WW2. This is a really useful lesson if you want the students to work on their source analysis skills. It is both a powerful and a challenging lesson.

This lesson can be used as a one off lesson or as part of a larger unit of work. I use it as part of a longer unit called ‘Fantastic Places’ (available as a SoW in my shop) which is essentially an introductory unit to geography. This lesson looks at the wonderful African wilderness of Madagascar and gets the students to investigate two of it’s most famous residents: Lemurs and Sharks. A fun and informative lesson that will leave the students thirsting for more (geography!)

This lesson explains Chrsitan attitudes towards drugs and alcohol using Christian teachings, UK law and morality to explain what the attitudes are and how they developed. This is a well resourced lesson that is suitable to be used in RE, citizehship or PSHE. It can easily be adapted for different year groups, although it is Primarily aimed at GCSE students. A fun and fascinating lessons what will get the students to think and ask good questions.

Introduction to Scientology - Outstanding Lesson

This lesson introduces the students to Scientology and asks the question is it a real religion or is it a cult? It is designed to be an introduction to the faith. It looks at the history, beliefs, practices and controversies surrounding Scientology. This lesson was been commended in a recent Ofsted report and has been praised by staff and students alike for being interesting and challenging. It is a really good start to the ‘Alternative Religions’ unit and gets the students to reflect on their own faith and consider what a religion really is.

This is an interview lesson (so is an outstanding lesson) It covers the issues of safety in the community (and at home) and gets students to investigate threats. They need to come up with solutions/advice as to how to deal with threats. They also need to write a poem/rap to demonstrate what they have learned.

This lesson investigates the assassination of JFK and gets the students to examine the evidence to try to answer the title question. This is an interesting and powerful lesson that gets students to challenge the official account and form their own theories as to what really happened in Dallas in 1963. A really good lesson.

In the long run did Jack the Ripper actually have a positive impact on London? Yes or No? Students will try to answer this question by researching the topic and then teaching one another. Students will look at the problems in East London at the time and whether or not those problems were fixed (and why). If you like this lesson then please leave a review.
