A full revision lesson based on the Activate 2 (P1.5-1.8). Starter and practical exercise taken from other TES authors. Lesson covers calculating resistance, PD and current (triangle method), permanent and temporary magnets (including electromagnets). Answers to each exercise are incorporated through animation. Use as a follow on lesson from another free revision resource found in my shop (circuits, current and potential difference revision). A complete, differentiated lesson on static, with content based on the Activate 2 (P1.1) SOW. The lesson involves an introduction to charge, atoms and subatomic particles. Students are then demonstrated static electricity using balloons and a Van de Graff generator. The students can be included into to this demonstration to make things fun, if it is not possible to use this equipment then a video is included within the slides. Class wide AFL is conducted through the use of planner (red, green and yellow) cards. Students are then taught the concepts of lightening and electric fields prior to a differentiated 'beat the grid challenge', where students answer as many ranked questions as they can in 10 minutes. The plenary is based upon self refection against the learning objectives. Students can be elected to read out answers through throwing a soft toy between peers. No additional worksheets or resources required.

A full differentiated lesson based on the new AQA (P3.4) SOW. The lesson covers issues with fossil fuels, the advantages and disadvantages of nuclear energy and outlines the Chernobyl disaster (mainly to incite interest). A differentiated question grid is used to apply learning and to conduct AFL (answers included). The lesson then covers the advantages and disadvantages of renewable energy resources prior to a GCSE PP question (answers included) facilitating further application of knowledge and AFL. The plenary involves students reflecting upon their progress against the learning objectives.

A full 1h lesson based on the activate 2 'metals and water' topic. The lesson incorporates a demonstration of group 1 metals reacting with water, alongside a reaction of magnesium and steam. If you are uncomfortable doing this videos can be used as an alternative. Prediction and equation writing is planned ahead of these demonstrations - students are scaffolded up to this. Students produce a mnemonic to remember the reactivity series and test their learning through a simple ( but fun) planner card activity. A great lesson to 'promote a love of learning' .

Stretch activities and support sheets included to support the learning of high and low abilities. Support sheets are literacy and numeracy based for learning checkpoints 1 and 2 respectively. A full lesson on ‘filtration’ based on the activate 2 SOW and pitched to a year 8 group. The lesson includes a simple practical where students separate rocks and salt through filtration. Numeracy based ‘power cards’ are included to better support the less able during the method writing section. A differentiated question grid is included as a follow up activity, this can be used to push both less and more able, or alternatively as a competition between boys and girls. A choice of two plenaries are included. As always, powerpoint timers and animations are included to promote pace and Q/A during the review of answers.

This lesson is based on the activate 1 SOW and so is pitched to a year 7 class. The lesson includes an introduction to the solar system through video, think pair and share and a simple DART activity. Students then complete an exercise where the distance between planets and the sun is modelled through folding and annotating paper. A graph drawing exercise is included as an extension, where students link the distance from the sun to temperature.
