Emotional check-in is a great way to support children to talk about their emotions. My class use our ‘emotional check-in’ display as they come into the classroom every morning. They attach their photo to the emotion they are feeling. I check our emotional check-in display when I am taking the register and will go and talk to any pupils who have said they are feeling unwell, sad, angry or anxious. I also check the display throughout the day as pupils can move their picture if they start to feel differently.
These activities can be used for any books your pupils have read. We use them as part of a personal reading journal each child has.
