AM or PM Analogue and Digital Drawing Task

(2)
This worksheet introduces children to the concept of a.m. and p.m. and asks them to identify which should be used in familiar situations. The sheet asks for analogue and digital times to be given, which could serve as differentiation within your class, or you could simply ask the children to fill in one or the other. Intended for KS1, but could also be used as revision for KS2 or for SEN pupils. If you love it, please leave a review!
Pencil Art Worksheet

Pencil Art Worksheet

(3)
A worksheet to help children practice pencil skills for art such as shading and blending. I usually do this over a double lesson with Year 4 or above, and I emphasise the need to work very, very slowly and carefully, focusing on correct pencil grip and varied pressure. They love it when I tell them this is how ‘real artists’ use pencils! If you love it, please leave me a review!

If you love it, please leave me a review!

Mental Addition Strategies Starter

(1)
Quick mental addition questions to do as a whole class on the board. I asked the children to work out the answer mentally and write it down on a whiteboard and then show me. The main focus of this activity was to discuss the different ways in which we might reach the same conclusion, e.g. rounding, partitioning etc. Includes seven questions of differing difficulty. Keynote and PowerPoint formats. Suited for a starter or plenary. If you love it, please leave me a review!

Human Body Proportions Quiz (with answers)

(0)
Can be used in Maths or Art. A simple one-page quiz with five questions about human body proportions. The children are usually really surprised at the answers - and, of course, love trying to disprove them! Could be suitable for a starter or plenary.
KS2 Techniques for Adding Colour to Drawings

KS2 Techniques for Adding Colour to Drawings

(1)
Use this worksheet to teach your KS2 or lower KS3 pupils how to use pencil crayons in a more artistic, grown-up fashion. Focus on having them take their time, pay attention to detail and not just cover up the blanks with colour. For a more detailed guide and more Art lesson plans, check out the other resources in my shop. If you love it, please leave me a review!
Ink Shading Techniques

Ink Shading Techniques

(1)
A worksheet to practise artistic techniques in ink (hatching, cross-hatching and stippling). I recommend that the children use black fineliner pens if possible, as ballpoint pens tend to be a bit too smudgy.
Space-Time Word Problems

Space-Time Word Problems

(0)
A worksheet which challenges children’s knowledge of time and of the Earth’s rotation, beginning with relatively simple ones -“How long does it take the Earth to rotate on its axis?” - and ending with very difficult ones - “In a month, the Earth rotates on its axis between __ and __ times. Explain why this changes.” Includes an answer sheet. Suitable for Key Stage Two.

Reporting the News Using a Journalistic Style (Big Write)

(0)
Practice writing in a journalistic style with this adorable tiny tortoise, Tim, as an example! The resource includes a presentation for the whole class which goes over this article as an example before prompting the children to write their own based on certain given facts. At the end the children can assess each other’s work, if you like to use peer review in class, or they can submit their writing to be marked. Multiplying Using The Grid Method

Decoupage horse art project
misspoolescoolschoolmisspoolescoolschool

Decoupage horse art project

(0)
A ready-to-print kit for making an A4 piece of decoupage art. The picture is of a horse on a sunset landscape. Involves very fiddly cutting which probably isn’t suitable for younger than Year Four. I strongly recommend doing a mini-project on cutting skills first (I’ve uploaded a Scissor Skills Workbook which is from SparkleBox) and emphasise the importance of precision! A tricky project which produces beautiful pictures with very few resources needed (colour printer, card, scissors, sticky foam squares or blu-tack).
Party Planning - Area and Perimeter

Party Planning - Area and Perimeter

(0)
LO: I can plot shapes with a specific area and perimeter. A fun and creative activity for children to practice what they know about area and perimeter by plotting furniture items on a grid, according to set values for area and perimeter. Example question: There are four speakers in the corners of the room with an area of 4cm² each. Choose a colour to represent them. Fill in the key with the colour you have used. Use as revision for lower-achieving pupils for Year 6 SATs, or to introduce area and perimeter in Year 3.

Book Review Activity - Draw Three Pictures

(0)
'Draw three pictures that show three different things that happened in your book. Be prepared to explain them to the class' Simple homework activity. When the children bring it back to school, choose one or more children to show their work to the class and explain what's happening in the pictures. Good for those who aren't yet able to write a formal review of their book.
