Three lessons combined- one is welcome to Y7 History- what is History and Chronology One is context on England in 1066 and what it was like. The other examines claimants to the throne in 1066 and the succession crisis.

KS3 Catch up and retrieval pack of activities on the Black Death.

Another retrieval activity for the Tudor Rebellions OCR ALevel course. This one randomly jumbles words and facts which are linked to the 5 rebellions against Henry VII. Students can colour code them according to which rebellion they are relevant to then as an extension they can try and add more detail about the facts. Eg which places are sites of battles? Which are attempted invasions etc. Answers also included for teachers new to the course or for self-assessment.

Designed for KS3 but can be adapted for KS4 Lesson on reasons for and consequences of prohibition in the USA during 1920s. Includes a colour coding task, sources task and simplified sources for SEND students and analysis of why prohibition failed.

KS4 USA Divided Society or KS3 lesson Life for African-Americans Examines the nature of the WASP vs non WASP discrimination in the USA Jim Crow laws and impact considered and the rise and fall of the KKK Includes a video link to the Greenwood Tulsa race massacre in 1921 to show that African-Americans both prospered and suffered. Includes a colour code debate sheet.

KS3 lesson (can be adapted for KS4) using sources for students to independently investigate life in the trenches and why the casualty rate was so high. -Includes all resources- video clip of Harry Patch describing losing a fellow soldier and the injuries they suffered, sources and guided note taking sheet.

Lesson for GCSE History Weimar and Nazi Germany Edexcel spec but can easily be adapted to any other Germany spec which requires a lesson about the impact of WWI or indeed KS3 History. Stand alone intro to the Crusades for KS3- the religious and historical significance of Jerusalem to all 3 faiths. Also includes a glossary sheet for key people, key terms etc for the Crusades.

This lesson was designed after completing the UCL course on teaching the Holocaust. It focuses on Pre War Jewish life in Europe and is an introduction to the Holocaust topic. Students cannot necessarily understand the gravity of what was lost in the Holocaust if they do not have a grasp of Jewish life and contribution to life before it. This is a fully resourced lesson, no textbooks required. Includes mindmap template, evidence sheets for group work, maps and a plenary activity designed to examine and discredit antisemitic stereotypes using the content learned in the lesson. This lesson was designed after completing the UCL course on Understanding the Holocaust. This lesson is lesson 2 in my sequence of learning and examines the nature of antisemitic prejudice in Germany as well as escalation of persecution in order for students to better understand how and why having rights taken away is such a dangerous step. I made this as part of a sequence of lessons after completing the UCL course on Understanding the Holocaust. This lesson examines the different ways people can resist oppression and the creative and brave resistance offered by many Jews and their allies during the Holocaust. Edexcel GCSE History This lesson examines the ways in which Lanfranc changed the Saxon Church during the Norman conquest and how this enabled William to maintain control. Includes a “go find” activity which can also be used as a carousel with students working on different aspects of the Church. Could also be turned into an investigative commission where Lanfranc sends investigating Norman Archdeacons to report on wrong doings in the Church then writes a report. All info included, no textbook required. Also includes some exam questions and mark schemes/ example answer for 4 marker.

This lesson is focused on why there was a second succession crisis in 1088, why William had a difficult relationship with his son Robert and Bishop Odo. Fully resourced lesson including starter, two main tasks and a plenary/ end of unit summary retrieval Who am I? To test student understanding of key individuals such as Edwin and Morcar, Waltheof, Lanfranc, Roger de Bretuill and Ralph de Gael. Includes a fully detailed worksheet, powerpoint, storyboard template , mini family tree for William (only 3 relevant sons included and Matilda) and fact file on Bishop Odo of Bayeux/ Kent. Also looks at causes of Odo and Robert’s rebellion against William II and why it failed. Exam Board: Edexcel GCSE= can be used for other boards.

It is to glue into pupil books.

Edexcel GCSE lesson for Weimar and Nazi Germany- can be adapted for AQA or iGCSE Could also be used for ALevel as a base to build up. Lesson examining the impact of the Enabling Act and the Night of the Long Knives and how Hitler consolidated and strengthened his position to make himself a dictator The lesson begins with a consolidation/ recap of Hitler becoming Chancellor and the Reichstag Fire decree/ impact. Then it looks at how Hitler used the Enabling Act to attack trade unions and political parties before his purge of political enemies and the SA. Also includes a practice of a “how useful source” Question (although with just one source to save time- includes a model answer highlighting task for a cartoon source. Looks at how and why the Night of the Long Knives happened in 1934 and the Death of Hindenburg which enabled Hitler to name himself Fuhrer Very detailed, complete lesson- no additional resources are needed. Also includes a bonus video sheet for the Rise of the Nazis Episode 3 (BBC) but obviously I cannot include the video for copyright- however if you don’t have access it doesn’t matter- you can use a documentary on youtube or just use the slides.

Includes a bundle of A*- Level 6 essays for the OCR Tudor Rebellions course. Useful for new teachers wanting to see outstanding practice or students who are intending to apply to Oxbridge or Russell Group universities. These are packed full of examples of rebellions and thematic writing- comparing and contrasting rebellions throughout. Questions included are all 25 mark thematic essays: Evaluate the view that " Tudor government was never seriously threatened by rebellion". OCR Alevel Tudor Rebellions course My third double lesson on the Pilgrimage of Grace for the Tudor Rebellions. As this is a depth study, students need to go into these themes in far greater depth. Attached are the resources for teaching this threat. Includes a living graph task, mapping document and a video clip from David Starkey. Also a retrieval exercise for a plenary. Edexcel GCSE History 9-1 Weimar and Nazi Germany This lesson looks at the Lean Years following the Munich Putsch and the way in which the Nazis reorganised including the development of new branches of the party e.g. women and young people and the development of the SS as a foil to the SA.
