Stand alone intro to the Crusades for KS3- the religious and historical significance of Jerusalem to all 3 faiths. Also includes a glossary sheet for key people, key terms etc for the Crusades.

This assembly is based on this year’s theme- reclaiming the Narrative as well as highlighting how easily false narratives have spread. Examines the role of racial bias in the media and politics in the UK and the riots of 2024 as well as the insideous nature of the anti-Haitian rhetoric from some in the USA. Idea is to promote awareness of the danger of misinformation and to encourage students to challenge one sided narratives especially if they are hateful. Updated Politics Taster Day lesson for 2024 This lesson is for the Edexcel course- we cover: Feminism and option 3A USA so some slides are tailored to this. Lesson is largely discussion based with a true or false quiz to promote discussion. Covers: Corruption and Accountability, Participation and Protest etc. Also includes: careers in Politics, famous students of politics, uses of politics alevel for degree level and quotes from students as well as a breakdown of the course. Also includes some little youtube clips from comedy shows, trailers for Knock Down the House etc.

This taster day lesson is for ALevel History. It is largely focused around the Russia course and the February Revolution although we also teach OCR Wars of the Roses and Tudor Rebellions so has info on those too. Includes: careers in History, why people choose History ALevel and some film clips/ trailers as well as a source based activity on the fall of the Romanovs.

This lesson was designed after completing the UCL course on teaching the Holocaust. It focuses on Pre War Jewish life in Europe and is an introduction to the Holocaust topic. Students cannot necessarily understand the gravity of what was lost in the Holocaust if they do not have a grasp of Jewish life and contribution to life before it. This is a fully resourced lesson, no textbooks required. Includes mindmap template, evidence sheets for group work, maps and a plenary activity designed to examine and discredit antisemitic stereotypes using the content learned in the lesson. This lesson was designed after completing the UCL course on Understanding the Holocaust. This lesson is lesson 2 in my sequence of learning and examines the nature of antisemitic prejudice in Germany as well as escalation of persecution in order for students to better understand how and why having rights taken away is such a dangerous step. Edexcel ALevel Politics Component 3 USA Comparative Introduction to Congress and its structure and powers Fully comprehensive lesson (2 hours) which includes all necessary resources Includes up to date case studies relevant to all powers of Congress. This lesson has been planned using the 2021 Bennett textbook so all information has come from this source. Includes a starter looking at popular perceptions of Congress and discussion task around reasons for this. Edexcel GCSE History This lesson examines the ways in which Lanfranc changed the Saxon Church during the Norman conquest and how this enabled William to maintain control. Includes a “go find” activity which can also be used as a carousel with students working on different aspects of the Church. Could also be turned into an investigative commission where Lanfranc sends investigating Norman Archdeacons to report on wrong doings in the Church then writes a report. All info included, no textbook required. Also includes some exam questions and mark schemes/ example answer for 4 marker.

This lesson is focused on why there was a second succession crisis in 1088, why William had a difficult relationship with his son Robert and Bishop Odo. Includes both a blank one for students if you wanted to set independent work and a completed one for aabsent students/ to check their work afterwards. Will need blowing up to A3 as used a tiny font to get all the info onto 2 sides to make it more user friendly as a reference sheet. Edexcel ALevel Politics USA Politics Includes retrieval task to sort formal and informal powers of Presidency and a detailed breakdown of US Informal and formal powers of the POTUS. Examines the role of the US Vice President and US Cabinet (updated as of 2024) includes examination of Trump and Biden CAbinet and covers the nature and powers of the Cabinet as well as other basics e.g. frequency of meetings etc. Includes a picture sheet of the Biden Cabinet and two brief video tasks (youtube links included on slides). I have also included some similarities and differences to UK Cabinet for analysis as we go but have a comparative lesson at the end of the topic.
