Each slide has a visual representation of the one of the 15 poems, along with questions that allow students to revise each poem in preparation for their exams.

Following grades from a mock exam, students then wrote a message to themselves (a final promise before their actual exam) and then they 'bottled' it up. We then stuck the paper bottles up around the classroom.

Each word on every slide has a different coloured/patterned background. There are 100 words in total and they do make an excellent display in the classroom.

I'm currently trialing a poem a day with my KS4 groups. I'm using structured questions and a random poem, just to get them used to dealing with poetry unseen. Here is a poem called 'Baggage', along with questions on a PP slide.

I have designed these activities for learners to revise both Language and Literature topics at the same time. There is 1 task per page.

Some visual cutouts to make a display based on Dickens' A Christmas Carol. I put this up on a blue background with white at the bottom to represent snow. I then put black borders over it to make it look like a window looking out. Make this even better with gold wrappers from chocolate coins to represent Scrooge's counting house.

I wrote this paragraph for students based on an image of a tiger that we looked at in class. It's good to get students thinking of a 'moving image'.

This looks best printed on A3. Sheet allows students to revise the text.

Differentiate the amount of money that you give to students. Students can then purchase teacher help. The idea is to create resilient and independent students.

Teach the language question at the same time as revising literature! This resource has been created using an extract from Jekyll and Hyde, but is based on the 8 mark language question from the new English Language specification for 2017 onwards.

I have an all boys group and they needed something that they could just memorise lots of language devices with. Each time a mock came around they would forget what things to look for in the language questions.It's colourful too and can be put up in the classroom.
