An activity to introduce children to the basics of addition and its written form with butterflies. Count the spots on the butterfly's wings and match it to the right flower. Children can write the sums down on the butterflies' bodies. If writing a number sentence proves too difficult, have students color in a block on the grid to correspond with the number of spots on the butterfly to demonstrate one-on-one correspondence. Introducing children to the 'oo' digraph. May be helpful to those children who are having difficultly grasping the concept of 2 different letters making a new sound.
Introducing children to the 'oo' digraph (short sound). May be helpful to those children who are having difficultly grasping the concept of 2 different letters making a new sound.
Print the pages back to back (‘Duplex: short edge binding&’ on some printer settings) to make your own Colour Book. I made this book for my EAL children as they came in with knowing no colour names. The last few pages of the book allowed the children to draw or stick in objects of that particular colour.
I ended up having to print a book for my whole class as everyone wanted one.
They really liked the book and I hope your children will too :)

I’ve drawn a simple head and tail (simple to allow EYFS/young children to have a go at cutting independently).
All you need is a strip of paper, folded into a concertina, for the body.
Children in my class were able to do this all by themselves after I modelled it.
Fun times tables fortune tellers. Tried and tested with my Y3 class and it well done really well! They were able to make the fortune tellers themselves after doing it with me only once.
It's a good revision tool and helps with children who are reluctant to learn their times tables!
