A sequence of activities relating to the film NORDWAND. (i) Questions in English about the beginning of the film. (ii) Multichoice questions in German about the beginning of the film. (iii) a match-up exercise (iv) a gap-fill (v) an activity in which students must put the main events of the film into the correct order and (vi) a storyboard exercise. NB exercises iii and iv are adapted from an activity uploaded elswhere on the TES by brettl. The second file contains a more challenging re-sequencing activity for more able students.
A text about Bio-Mode in which students must (i) analyse and explain the the case of a series of highlighted articles and nouns in the first part of the text and (ii) supply the correct article in the second part of the text. Solution also provided for part (ii)
An interview with a homeless person in Berlin, followed by questions in English and an improvisational role play. Pitched at able Year 11s but could be used with Yr 12. The text is authentic, but for a handful of edits.
Simply display the Powerpoint, and read out plausible or implausible football results for the students to note down. This provided a surprisingly compelling context for the simple dictation of numbers in the early stages of learning them. You can of course change the teams however you like.
A sequence of activities relating to the thorny issue of G8 in German Gymnasien. There is (i) an article followed by questions in German (ii) a set of opinions to sort into Pro and Contra groups (iii) a discussion and a diamond 9 card sort (iv) an analysis of the structure of the article (which is very similar to an essay structure) and (v) an essay title.
