This is a super fun (yet truly educational!) game where students race to the finish line by naming notes on the bass clef staff! Use in your daily lessons, as part of center activities, or as a great sub plan!
This is the Bass Clef version; you can customize it for your desired range!
The differentiated version also includes game boards which only test space notes and only test line notes. This is to help narrow the focus for kids who are struggling. This full game is also included in the differentiated version.

Description of Lesson
Previous Knowledge: Students should already be introduced to beat vs. rhythm and have beginning knowledge of whole, half, quarter, and sixteenth note (optional) and quarter rest.
Students recently completed this lesson (though not a requirement).
Lesson - Students review beat vs. rhythm using Peter, Peter, Pumpkin Eater. Then we use pumpkin visuals to group notes into groupings based on a given time signature. We practice identifying pumpkins that have the right and wrong number of beats for a given time signature. Then students are asked to compose their own pumpkin measures and then translate them onto a staff. Additional activities provided to extend/supplement the lesson to provide for differentiation.

(There is also an included version only using repeat, step, and skip for those who don’t teach “leap”). Use in your daily lessons, as part of center activities, or as a great sub plan!

Description of Lesson
Previous Knowledge: Students should already be introduced to beat vs. rhythm and have beginning knowledge of whole, half, quarter, and sixteenth note and quarter rest.
Lesson - Students learn a cute poem about Pizza and practice rhythm of the words vs. beat. Then students will practice decoding pizza toppings into the correct rhythmic pattern (i.e. Pepperoni is sixteenth notes). Then students will have the opportunity to create their own pizza arrangements with a fun cut and paste activity. (Alternatively they could write them in if you do not want to cut and paste). Modified levels of the worksheet provided.

Most teachers would agree taking a sick or person day is harder than actually being at work. Writing music sub plans and preparing music sub tubs and music sub binders are so hard, especially in music and other specials!
This is a great activity for grades 3 and up! The younger kids could do it as a class activity! Students are presented a series of emoji patterns and have to guess what song it is! There are 60 songs to decipher!

This is the Bass Clef DIFFERENTIATED version; you can customize it for your desired range!
What is the difference between this game and the Differentiated version found here?
The differentiated version also includes game boards which only test space notes and only test line notes. This is to help narrow the focus for kids who are struggling. This full game is also included in the differentiated version.
In the game, each student will draw a card and identify the pitch on the card. Then, they can move their game piece (provided by you - see here for examples or use pony beads!)
