Here are the answers to go with my resource 'Macbeth Pub Quiz - 1 hour'.

This is a fully-resources scheme of work that I created for Year 7 students. After visiting a local primary school and learning more about the KS2 SATs requirements, I designed this scheme of work to ensure that our KS3 students continue to build on the skills learned in primary school. Every lesson has a powerpoint, worksheets, homework activities, differentiation (including differentiated learning objectives) and there are assessment opportunities built into the scheme of work.

A fully-resourced, differentiated scheme of work that lasts 8-10 weeks built around the Gothic genre. The scheme of work also perfectly prepares students for the new Edexcel Language Paper 1 (19th century extracts and creative writing). There are regular links to the new spec in terms of mark schemes and assessment objectives. Assessment opportunities (and exemplars!) are built in throughout. Each lesson has a PPT and any resources needed are attached. This is great for KS4 students or a high-ability KS3 group.

A fully-resourced, differentiated lesson teaching students how to compare two texts, focusing on the new OCR AS English Language Spec (paper 1, question 2). A lesson plan and all resources are included. This lesson was observed by Ofsted and graded ‘Outstanding’.

This lesson explores the most significant moments of tension in Macbeth and also encourages students to recap plot and learn quotations in preparation for the new 9-1 Literature exams.

A revision lesson on Lady Macbeth to help students prepare for the new 9-1 Literature exam. The lesson includes an engaging game of Quiz-Quiz-Trade to help students to recap their prior knowledge of Lady Macbeth, and an extract-based exam question (with model answer) to help students to revise exam techniques.

A full marks model essay answering the question ‘Explore the significance of the theme of education in Animal Farm’. Written to support the teaching of the new Edexcel 9-1 Literature specification. Suggested activities: - Print off the mark scheme and get students to mark the essay - Get students to colour-code where the essay meets the different assessment objectives - Use the essay to create a list of spellings/keywords since 8 marks are available for SPaG - Use the essay as a model when asking students to answer a different question - Get students to identify where contextual comments are linked into the analysis

A full marks Unseen Poetry comparative essay comparing how death is presented in Funeral Blues and Do Not Stand at my Grave and Weep. For Edexcel English Literature, however many exam boards have a similar style of question.

This is a collection of resources that I used with my Y11 students during an Easter holiday revision session. I spent two hours delivering this lesson, however students were asked to finish many of them at home independently (therefore this could last several hours if used during lesson time). Conflict poetry pub quiz (containing true/false questions, context questions and fill in the blank quotation questions) Comparisons grid (students are given a plethora of exam questions and asked to identify comparable poems) Poetic Terminology task (students revise poetic terminology and definitions, then match terminology with examples from Conflict poems) Context and Form Bingo game (designed to help students remember key information regarding the form and structure of all 15 poems).

This is an extract-based question and corresponding full marks exemplar essay. Written in timed conditions so that students are able to use this essay as a realistic exemplar.

A fill-in-the-blanks pop quiz that tests students ability to remember key quotations from each poem in the anthology.

This revision lesson begins by quizzing students on plot, characters, themes and events (20 questions). Then, they examine a question and exemplar paragraph, exploring how to structure an essay (whole-text question). They then use this model to write their own response to a question.

This two/three hour lesson is a detailed walk-through of everything students need to know and demonstrate in the imaginative writing section of Edexcel’s Language paper one exam. It includes a full marks model answer that is analysed and then used as an example for students; they use this as inspiration for their own writing.

This lesson walks students through how to answer an extract-based question on Jekyll and Hyde. We follow the Edexcel English Literature spec. This lesson guides students through how to approach an extract, choosing which features to write about, asks students to explore a model answer and then write their own The extract in question is from chapter four - The Carew Murder. It explores the moment Hyde beats Carew to death with “ape like fury”. I used this with high ability Y9 - aiming for grade 4s and 5s. It would be equally suitable for a low/mid ability Y10 or Y11 group. The focus is on aimings for 4s and 5s. Read less

This two-hour session teaches students what skills they need to demonstrate in the transactional writing component of the Edexcel Language Paper 2 exam. It includes a break down of the success criteria, an exemplar answer that can be analysed and then used as a model for writing, followed by an independent task for students.
